commented on We Can't Start Building Tall Buildings Next To Short Ones!
I faced a real dilemma last week when there was a public meeting about the proposed building going up next door to my capitol hill condo (which I rent). Right now I have a wonderful view of the entire skyline with a large balcony with a southwestern exposure that gets sun much of the day. I can spend hours a time out there. The proposed structure will include an eight story wall 15 feet from my balcony, removing my view entirely and severely limiting my sun exposure. But you know what? I didn't complain. In the 80s when my building was constructed the smaller building next door (which this new construction will replace) probably lost a lot of sun and some views. This is the reality of living in a city. If you want a permanent view go buy something on the other side of Puget Sound. The value of my condo would pay for plenty of house over there.

This is ridiculous. No one was shouting that at the march. There were different chants going simultaneously. Perhaps you were hearing a combination of the "Hey hey, ho ho, homophobia's got to go" chant and "Obama, escucha, estamos en la lucha" or something else. The most provocative chant I heard was "We're here, we're queer, don't fuck with us." I'm not saying it's impossible that some people were yelling anti-Obama chants, but I didn't hear it.
My impression of this post is that it was purposefully disingenuous, which is pretty sad.
