My vagina can beat up your vagina.

I loved his Romeo + Juliet, and saying "those younger actors" makes you sound a bit crotchety.

@62 -- Yeah, @19 had it right. It makes no sense that this "trusted friend" has never seen the guy's wife of 14 years, not even a picture of her on FB. Nothing about this rings true.

@18 -- Agreed.

@13 -- I think OK Computer might have actually been a better place to start ...

Seeing as she was behaving erratically and couldn't seem to get herself under control, I don't think landing the plane and removing her from the flight was an overreaction. Wether it was a diabetic episode or some kind of mental breakdown, you don't want that happening in the air at the risk of her own and everyone else's safety.

I agree with this review. I can see why a lot of critics didn't like this adaptation, but I thought it was kind of fabulous. The first two acts were great fun to watch and the third act really got to me -- I actually misted up a bit at the end. I also don't understand what else critics expected, coming from Luhrmann. If you've hated all his previous work and sit through this with your arms crossed, waiting to be won over, you'll probably be disappointed.
May 11 Amanda commented on SL Letter of the Day: I'm Out.
I think slurs like bitch, cunt and whore perpetuate a terrible tradition of shaming women, and I refrain from using them because I don't want to participate in that tradition. I also think the language we use to insult people in particular says more about us than it does about the object of our derision. If someone annoys me and I feel like lashing out, I'll focus on the aggravating behavior of the person in question, rather than focusing on gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. Nobody can really tell you how to use language though. You have to figure it out for yourself. Good luck.
