Huh. I had no idea this thing was supposed to be a skatepark (or that it was funded by Red Bull). As just a sculpture I think it's kind of cool. When I've been to the park I've seen little kids climbing all over it while their parents sit on pieces that become benches. Can't comment at all on its merits for skating, but I like it.

It is shameful how racist gay men can be. This scenario has happened to me so many times -- I'll make a comment about a guy in the crowd being sexy, and the response back will be: "Oh, I didn't know you were into black guys. or Asian guys. or Latino guys." And I'll always respond back: I'm not "into" black guys. I'm into sexy guys. And that guy's hot." It's embarrassing.

@93 - Please explain: What is "white architecture"?

Baja Bistro is a gem. It epitomizes what a neighborhood join should be. The service is friendly, sincere and without attitude. The crowd is a delightful mix and everyone seems genuinely welcome. The food is fresh, inexpensive and delicious (Puerco en Salsa Verde! Homemade chips and tortillas!) And the margaritas are the best I've had in town (all fresh, no mix!)

@8 Just for arguments sake: What if you were a gay man and had a catering business. Someone from a catholic or mormon church wanted you to cater an event at their church. The event was a meeting to strategize against gay marriage. Should you be required by law to provide catering services?

Charles never misses an opportunity to say something annoying and purposefully controversial. He certainly hit the mark on this one. I almost hate to give him the satisfaction of a response. I'm a long time resident of Beacon Hill and absolutely LOVE out library. The old "storefront" library branch was sad and and embarrassing. Think whatever you want of the architecture (personally I think it is quite striking and serves as a lovely landmark in a neighborhood that lacks many landmarks). But more than that, when you step inside, the thing is truly a work of beauty. Both the physical beauty of the design and architecture, but more, the vibrancy of a community coming together in this space. It is an absolute treasure for the neighborhood.

There is already one of these All Way Walk signals on Beacon Hill, and I HATE it. You have to wait sooooo loooong before it turns to "walk" that I generally just try to avoid that intersection.
