Like @5 said, it's not "new" - I saw it in Paris in 2012. Maybe it's new with subtitles?

I will always have a soft spot for this film because it represents the moment when I first felt fluent French. I was watching it in the theater (without subtitles) and I actually forgot that it was in a foreign language - I was just completely absorbed. Then the next day I saw a different, more sophisticated film and only understood 75% of the dialogue, and realized that fluency is still a goal.

The film is oversimplified and completely unrealistic - it's like a Disney version of the chef profession. And yes, the "yelllowface" scene is deeply offensive. Don't see it unless you want to practice your French.

This is an excellent film - one of the best I've seen in years. I saw it in France a month ago. Don't miss it on the big screen!

I was in Guatemala in 2003 when Rios-Montt ran for president - totally illegally under the country's constitution (which banned members of genocidal regimes from running) but still state sanctioned and completely terrifying. Ten years later he has moved from Presidential candidate to war criminal - wonderful progress for Guatemala and for humanity.

Fertility varies tremendously, and it's absolutely wrong to say that people who get pregnant unintentionally are always stupid or 'doing it wrong.' After I got pregnant the first time (using a diaphragm and spermicide, correctly) I was even more careful, yet still managed to get pregnant while using condoms and spermicide (correctly, and every time), and then again even with an IUD (correctly placed by my very capable OB/GYN). Super fertility does have its advantages (the one time I actually planned to get pregnant it took exactly one encounter, and I ended up with a due date within one week of the target I was aiming for), but please don't assume that anyone who gets pregnant unintentionally is irresponsible or stupid.

Hey, cool! This is one of my former students. She told me about it several days ago, but I never thought it would end up getting national exposure via SLOG. Thanks Dan.

@9 In my experience, most men don't speak up either, but maybe also they're not as motivated to, being easier to please in general.

In 15 sexually active years, I only remember once being told/shown something, and that was my first time with an uncircumcised guy.

I am thankful for vasectomies!

Whew. I couldn't say that at Grandma's Thanksgiving table, so I've been holding it in. I'm also truly thankful for Dan and all that he's done to make talking about sex (and demanding better sex) easier for so many of us.
