Probably the only good thing about 50 shades, is the detailed discussion, initiated by the Dom, of what acts are permissible and what aren't initiated. The Dom also requires routine health checks for both and uses condoms. If Dan could bring himself to read those pages of the book, I think he would be impressed.

VABG - I know how hard it is to let go of the fantasy of eventual acceptance. It's been two years since I realized that I would never be "good enough." There was no concrete reason you could point to and it took decades of rejection for me to get there. It still hurts, but it is getting less sharp. Recognize that you have suffered a loss that can in some ways be more painful than a death. Allow yourself to mourn.

Looking forward to the NOM debate. I have been puzzled by the fact that the BIG 10 make so little appearance when defending gay marriage. Since gay relations aren't part of the big 10, those who are in same sex relationships should be less vilified than those who break one of the big 10 (or get caught). Similarly, Jesus, channeling the teaching of Hillel, states that you should "love (i.e. accept) your neighbor," and surely the words of Jesus trump those of St Paul. "Turn the other cheek, do good to those who dispitefuly use you," etc. are all the words of Jesus. Wasn't homosexuality accepted by the Greeks and Romans? Surely Jesus would have been familiar with the pracice and spoken out against it if it was something he was concerned about.

Hey Dan
This is clearly not meant for my demographic (50s) - much too choppy and disjointed (and late). I hope it works for the chosen demographic. I do like the way you guys scripted the solo and group bits to highlight key issues (women like sex, if you are a bear, you need to go with bear lovers, etc.) I also like that you chose "real" looking people to represent the identifiable individuals. It all came across as natural and unforced - good thing these large universities have such good theater departments.

I'll try to get my teenagers to watch it.

An interesting article in the Yale Daily about freshman orientation and trying to no longer hide one's sexuality.

"As Savage always notes, the kind of smear-the-queer taunts that can cause so much pain to young people aren’t aimed only at kids who are gay, they’re often aimed at boys who don’t live up to some mythical standard of masculinity"

The whole case for Bachmann being gay, as far as I can tell, is that he doesn't conform to the stereotype for straight male. This actually diverts attention from the important issue, which is his attempt to cure the gay in others.

Regarding SMALL - it isn't only closeted queers who attack the thing they are closeted for. Call the makers of small dick jokes on their insecurities. (And check the non-verbals from your former lovers carefully, they may be exhibiting passive aggressive hostility).

For FP - why not a dildo on occasion?

When my sister loses weight, it always comes off her face first. When I lose weight, it comes off my face last. Bummer.

Whatever the cause, presumably the goal of the sudden transformation is to get the blogosphere talking, get those Google hits piling up, because that is how "celebrities" maintain their status and their income.

As noted elsewhere, Bristol now looks like Kim Kardashian. All that is needed for full admission to the cohort of interchangeable celebrities is a "perfect" smile and the willingness to parade your life on the magazines and talk shows. Bristo hasn't quite perfected the smile. Not my choice of career, but then neither is politics.

What is the relative number of email readers of Savage Love compared to print readers of Savage Love? I'm just curious which has the majority, and how big a majority that is.

Non-sequitur
Dan, this week's podcast seems to have technical problems. I can hear your pre-taped stuff and the callers, but not your responses.
