I hate to Jay Leno the joke for @7, @9 above, but the whole point is that the editorial board member in question is at minimum what most people consider 'middle aged', and on the editorial board of the Seattle Times, yet writes like an unambitious high school student.

They do not taste the same at all, and HFCS makes you gain weight differently, ends up getting snuck into foods that shouldn't be 'sugared' in the first place, and has been linked to heart disease and other health problems. I'd go a step further and suggest it be banned entirely, but that'll never happen soon in this country.
