These were some of the best books I read in '10. Unlike most people I liked the third book the best because I thought it drove home the idea of the pointlessness of violence.

I would like to stand up and applaud, but I'm in the library (of all places!!!) right now, and I would just be applauding my lap top, which might, you know, look weird and stuff.

There's never really a purpose. Usually someone e-mails partycrasher@thestranger.com and Paul Constant sends an intern.

I sense a book deal...

But more seriously, can you compare what you learn about American history in every class to what you can find on wikipedia? Also, if you really want some statistics about how Americans in the 17-18th centuries go to church only about as much as we do now, read Spiritual but Not Religious by Robert Fuller.

I'm weirdly proud about being from Detroit (or, you know, the suburbs thereof). I think it has something to do with the tv commercials from when I was a kid, "Stand up and tell 'em you're from...Detroit!"

nice intro. wish i could've been there (or, really, that it hadn't sold out).

Isn't it pretty common practice to pay for any sort of expert testimony, regardless of the nature of the case? I mean, granted, usually the experts have something useful to say, with evidence to back them up, but the money thing is pretty standard, I think.

Grandpa just wants to cyber with all of the single moms in class.
