According to the New Testament, the act of adultery in her case isn't the remarriage (which is a lot of fundy bapticostals feel they can "wash under the blood") ... its the continued sexual congress with the man that isn't her living first husband. She didn't used to have an adulterous lifestyle before "becoming a Christian," she continues to commit adultery every time her hillbilly husband closes the bedroom in their double-wide trailer.
Since she likes to name-call and pass judgement, Dan ... let's stop calling her by her government name, and start referring to her righteously and factually: the adulteress, Kim Davis.

@Dan (RE:PPP) - Community/communities? Are you really trying to force people into binary social constructs without considering the alternative (i.e. bisexual vs pansexual)?
Surely, you have considered the world where a person neither wants to be in a singular grouping (community) or several, the demi-nitian who is part of none until he/she/it/symbol becomes interested in being part of it (and may well choose to not join even if this person wants to).

Conservatives often quote Ben Franklin when the threat of a new tax is even contemplated: "When people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic."
Perhaps we're not there yet, but we have discovered that we can vote ourselves military-style arsenals, and do so to the extent that local law enforcements have to build SWAT teams to deal with things a "stern talking-to" used to solve.
Democracy can be a beautiful thing; and it can also be very ugly. It isn't a grandiose comment to remember that the most horrifically murderous European politician in the last century was himself democratically elected (hiding none of his vile and venom before those elections).

While I similarly hold my nose at LOFD's prudishness, I'm amused at the suggestion that we modern gays are above the "isms" that plague our straighter brothers and sisters. Sullivan aside, how often have we segregated ourselves into separate clubs, separate beach retreats, and even separate "gay rights" organizations lest we rub elbows with those of another color?
And, that certainly is never enough - we cement additional ones into acceptable behavior all on our own. Where else is it acceptable to tell someone they're too fat, too femme (even if the one saying "no" is similarly endowed). God forbid anyone intentionally acting "stereotypical" should want to get laid (no one could actually ever be BORN that way).
I've even seen Cardinal Savage counsel an overweight teen on MTV about "expectations."
So - yeah - SOFD is out of line, but he isn't rowing that slightly fascist boat on his own. We're all a bit not so nice when it comes to who we want to bed. Mr. SOFD is just playing it at a much higher level.

I was going to say, "Too much too soon," but when I thought about how I might reply, it would have been to just reply with your last words ...
"Yeah, but you do realize there's no God, right?" ...
like every time he said something ...

Oh, if only people didn’t suck it in for Facebook … if Aunt Marge hadn’t insisted on family photos from the “good side” of her face … if that psychopath I used to Skype with hadn’t smiled the first time …
Everyone does it … dab a little color to hide a blemish, a wrinkle, a grey hair or three … take ten to twenty snaps before we upload the best for color-smearing by Instagram … hire a cleaning lady (or Mom) to come over the morning before the “one” that might stay over …
Yet … all of us complain when WE’RE the one waking up next to someone a little lower on the bed notch caste system.
Why can’t we admit it? We’re all a little fascist when it comes to fucking. Take a “wahhh!” coupon and get over it. You’ve just been had by nature’s little plot to improve the gene pool.

When I saw the title on the home page, I was certain it was a scoop about someone on the Texas Department of Corrections apologizing for ... you know ... mistakes with the death penalty thingee.
I regret the error.

They do this because they were liberals ... the "fight them with sunflowers" variety, who think bin Laden and Stalin might have been converted with a hug and a listening ear, who think we should completely dismantle the military (as opposed to reduction) and replace it with a Department of Rainbows, who vote for Paul Tsongas, Dennis Kucinich, and Ralph Nader.
Of course, I'm one of them, too ... but, I often wonder how our side might be winning these national conversations if we weren't so busy huffing, nuancing, and trying to "meet in the middle" with our ideological enemies (who want us all to die and go away so they can populate the earth for King Baby Jesus).
