Hey - listen - the Northern states were just as racist as the southern states in the mid 19th century - and the civil war wasn't about slavery - it was about state's rights - before you radically criticize a group of people please do a little research first, or you are just as ignorant as any racist in the world - and remember - New York at the end of the 19th century was way crueler to the Italian and Irish immigrants than the southern slaveholders were to the Africans - they had somewhere to sleep and food on the table - the North left the Irish and Italians out in the street and let their babies die because they couldnt afford milk. All slave babies got milk...so don't be too hasty with your criticism because the south isn't the only place in the world where ignorance exists...its everywhere - you cant escape it.
