@11 Right wing Ford swept into the Mayors chair mostly because of our less urban inner suburbs. Scarborough, Etobicoke, North York and York.
Downtown, a very urban and vibrant place with very walkable neighbourhoods. The old city of Toronto overwhelmingly voted for his more liberal opponent, George Smitherman. It wasn't enough to hold back all the support he had in the burbs.
There were more candidates on the centre/left during the mayoralty race. This also contributed to his win.
He has been a buffoon since taking office with scandals monthly if not weekly. He has been kicked out of office for campaign over spending and irregulations only to regain it on appeal. He's been a blight on Toronto ever since he took office. The list would be endless.
He is also a lame duck Mayor. Luckily Toronto's mayor has only one vote on council. He is able to set the debate with his executive committee but has that control taken away from him frequently when councils centre/left majority votes it away. He hardly ever gets his way at council. He hasn't been able to do much damage to the city government thankfully. He's doing damage on Toronto's image. He's the worst Mayor this city has ever had!
Coming from a Downtown Toronto, Latte sipping lefty pinko cyclist. What Don Cherry and Ford affectionately call people like me living and working downtown.

Why should I have to pay for something that is swimming in ads and has such a slow cycle? I can go into the local bookstore chain and read the ones I want for free on a lazy Sunday. This industry needs some serious change!
