I say take a look and pass it off as if you're considering joining - you know, sizing up the entirety of the place. Then, as you consider the lucky coincidence, whistle a tune to your destination and then move on to bigger and better things...and then of course stop the whistling - nobody likes whistlers.

Just saw the three "famous" films last month (from the library). All were fantastic...especially 400 Blows, and Shoot the Piano Player. I'm going to have to see the other lesser-known ones. Truffaut is a genius.

@ #2, I'm not sure why you would even waste time pondering the "goals" of a rapist. Any way you look at it, he loses, and we can all sleep better knowing he'll rot in a cell for the rest of his life.

Almost makes a person WANT to go to jail, just to get their hands on that scumbag. I have to echo the praise for the coverage - first reading about this in the Stranger in the "Bravest Woman In Seattle" story, the uncomfortable feelings of...well just about every different emotion stuck with me for a while. I can totally understand the juror who "called in sick," but am proud of the jurors who were able to sit through and deliver justice.

Thanks for fleshing out the numbers. Nothing is as frustrating as hearing politicians spout numbers to the Oh's and Ah's of an audience ready to swallow it all down. It seems that's all we're exposed to - numbers picked arbitrarily to "illustrate" a point. More important than a general message should be actual facts with citation, and yet that doesn't ever seem to be presented.
And Brett is welcome to his opinion of your writing, but you know what they say about opinions. My feeling is that you gave a solid defense behind your frustration with the candidate.

Very interesting plan. Initially my reaction was "yeah right", but in looking at it again it does gather increased normalcy. Good piece.

I wish our country wasn't so afraid of supporting a healthy middle-class, and so insistent on maintaining the good life only for the wealthy who, not surprisingly, are also the ones in charge.
