The show is amazing. I 100% recommend going. I saw it twice in NYC and loved it the first time, and was moved the second. The first time I went I ended up, through a mix up on directions, walking through the exhibit backwards. Starting with late 20th century AIDS based pieces and ending with a tiny print of Walt Whitman. It was a very different experience going in that direction. The exhibit, although NOT titled as a 20th Century ONLY exhibit, does not encompass anything past the late 90's. AIDS was and is a part of our culture but, from the perspective of the exhibit it would appear that gay men and women all disappeared in the mid 90's and nothing since has been made in the way of gay portraiture. This made me sad as, to me, it lets AIDS be the de facto END of gay identity. It is literally the last word. As much as i love and cherish this well curated exhibit, I must say that walking through it backwards actually made me feel MORE connected to my gay history than walking through it the way it is intended to be seen. I bought the book. I went twice. I highly recommend it but, I wish you would walk away feeling a part of a history of people and less part of a history of people who have not made a statement in the arts about self identity since AIDS was decimating our community without hope for a future.

Anyone else feel this way?

Ditto #7, and from the glint in the eye/smirk of the guy standing next to him, who I assmue MADE the sign, Rick is the only one NOT in on the joke. I can how amazed/excited/nervous the guy is in the pic. Well done!

i have actually seen a live performance of AMERICAS NEXT TOP BOTTOM at a Daniel Nardicio (Playgirl Owner) party on the lower east side. Three contestants. the one that one took a dildo up his ass at least 18 inches long and prolly about 9 around... like throwin a hot dog down a hallway. all in front of about 100 people... amazeballs!

according to what i learned reading sex at dawn, those banshee yelps were meant to attract other male suitors... not other women... so maybe thats why it wasnt workin for you. or else she was just an obnoxious haprie screamin her head off for affect and to join the club of the moaning sex building... and by the way... I want to move there

For the first time since the start of the recession, the American dollar seems to be gaining value.
