Thanks @12 and @13. Looks like you're right. I guess my comments apply to some of the previous commenters then. I'm an ex-smoker and remember how snotty people get about smoking. I always think, what if you said that to someone who was obese? Yes, this is one of my canned rants on smoking (perchance similar to the "I gotta quit" rant), but it legitimately angers me.

What's with people's hatred for smokers, as if it really makes a difference on your life to smell a cigarette for 5 seconds. Just let smokers bond and share this ritual with each other. I think anonymous is just jealous that these people share a bond that they can't take part in. But it's a bond through their addiction, which is a curse not a blessing. I'm sure it's the same bond you share with your fellow Cross-Fitters or whatever lame activity you take part in.

Before May of this year, Jennifer Lawrence wasn't a movie star, so I think it's unfair to characterize her, or many of the cast of Silver Linings Playbook, as "movie stars parading acting chops." But good on Your Sister's Sister.

One of the images you have up there is the 36th District Dems sample ballot. I'm a Precinct Committee Officer for the 36th, and as such, I'll be canvassing my neighborhood and giving this sample ballot to people in my precinct. It really makes me mad that incorrect information is in the sample ballot and that other PCOs will be giving incorrect information to people in their precincts too. With such a close race, every detail counts - Gael should stop lying about her endorsements.

Yaaay PT Anderson! I'm so excited too, and I love all of his movies, especially Magnolia. So of course I'd choose There Will Be Blood over No Country for Old Men, because of Daniel Day Lewis's performance and the last (controversial) scene. And the little boy is super cute too. I think it's also really cool that he's with Maya Rudolph (although I can't imagine PT laughing).

I read the article for the first time yesterday, and I couldn't stop thinking about it all day. Eli, your feature really shows how powerful good writing can be and what writing can do. Congratulations to you and the Stranger.

I was there - that Kid (as in Kid and Play) is the student body President! Inslee's hoping to win his endorsement.

This is very sad, thanks for sharing the news! I do think it's ironic that the video you have is a Micky Dolenz song and not a Davy Jones song. No love for Daydream Believer? ;)
