commented on 216 Nipples Later
my wife, my daughter, and my girlfriend are all outraged that they were not included in this wonderful expression of femininity. Where are the applications for participation? Will there be addendum editions? How much of a contribution has to be made to correct the grievous omissions? With all the much lauded artistic talent in this burg, why can't an artist with real talent be hired to do a decent rendition of breasts?

commented on Deeply Embarrassed White People Talk Awkwardly About Race
an excellent article. I have not waded through all of the comments, but add my own. As an exhibiting artist at 619 Western, i came to notice that hardly any African Americans attend art events. There is next to no art produced or shown by them. The entire art scene is irrelevant to 'people of color'. I had a painting in which an African American was depicted in a necessary but subsidiary role. Early in the evening a well-dressed white lady gave me a stern evaluation -why and how dare I? And then later in the evening the only African American attendee, chewed me a fresh one for what I thought a neutral depiction. No one objects to whatever distortions or vulgarities I may subject the 'white folks'

commented on WikiLeaks Hysteria
As my Wobbly grandfather used to say:
Government exists to ensure that the rich get richer.
The revelations of Wikileak threaten the stability of the wealth harvest and the transfer of resources from the workers and so-called middle class to the wealthy. Unfortunately the wealthy own the media and are thus able to divert attention, and also able to present this as yet another cops and robbers scenario, and avoid the discussion of the actual nature of the lies and conspiracies.

commented on Liquor Control Board Cracks Down on Art Galleries
The LCB rules are unclear and inflexible. Certainly the gallery crew should be checking ID, but it is unclear whether a requested 'donation' of, say, $2 to recover wine/beer/snacks expenses constitutes illegal sales. The Banquet license doesn't cover this practice. Since there are rarely any art sales on the art walk, providing refreshments for free can seem an expensive overhead expense.
