@4 I actually live not that far from the Highline and I've never seen a homeless person there. I think it's because the park the staircases and elevators leading up to the park are closed at night. Also the place is really heavily patrolled by special park guards that keep people out of the landscaping and whatnot. Every time I've been to the Highline it's been very crowded.

Most of the homeless people in lower Chelsea seem to hang out around the Salvation Army on 14th.

Huh--only 24 stop-and-frisks on my block, but two blocks away there's a block that got 478 stops. I'll have to look around next time I walk by and see if there's any good reason it should be swarming with NYPD.

@4 I once had a 20 year old roommate who had NO idea how to use a can opener, and even worse, he couldn't figure it out! He also threw screaming-and-breaking things tantrums when he didn't get his way. He was not my roommate for long.

@38 at least in my example the can opener-challenged was a really mediocre student barely squeaking through college because he would rather play video games

Seriously did you sleep through 7th grade American History class or something the Supreme Court deciding on the constitutionality of laws is like BASIC AMERICA FACTS.

@1 I graduated highschool in '08 and I took a Civics class, and an American History/How the Government Works class in middle school.
