Is it possible that what Snowden did will make us more vulnerable to a terrorist attack? Anybody w/ half a brain knows if your planning something illegal you don't use a cell phone or the internet to do it, but terrorists tend to be kind of stupid. Telling the world about the NSA data mining operation might make future would-be bombers more careful about that.

Wouldn't it be funny if Paul Constant and Brendan Kiley snitched jobs.

I'm not sure how I feel about the US arming the Syrian rebels. Right now all the horrible things happening in that country are not America's fault.

In Egypt the people overthrew the dictator and all they acomplished was to replace one bunch of corrupt bastards w/ another bunch of corrupt bastards. Popular revoulutions are usually a waste of time.

@20 One of the functions of juries is to access the credibility of witnesses. The legal system didn't simply accept the killer's story at face value. He was put on trial, opted to testify, and was deemed not guilty by jurors who had listened to what he had to say.

@18 That Texas law that allows people to use deadly force to recover property during a nighttime theft has been on the books since the 1800s. The NRA had nothing to do with it. Until 1972 Texas law defined the murder of an unfaithful wife by her husband as justifiable homicide. That law was only changed because it was declared unconstitutional because it didn't give wives the right to shoot cheating husbands.

@13 Taking somebody's life over $150 does strike me as somewhat excessive, but I'm not a Texas native so maybe I just don't understand.
