To Dick Hole Panic: I had a lover once with phimosis. You know what cured it? Unprotected sex! The squeeziness paired with the no condom rolled it right back. It was tight at first, but we had a long warm shower, he lubed it up with olive oil or something, and gently worked it back and forth. After a couple of weeks it was totally fine and normal. Turned out not to be a big deal after all.

for what it's worth, yeah, it was right, for our family. and you're right, anecdotes are cheaper than studies, but wildly ignorant speculation from fearful bigots is cheaper still! so where's your longitudinal study, pinhead?

@41 and 43--let's call your opinions what they are: pure speculation. Do you actually know any kids from same-sex parenting households? No? Didn't think so. But I do--my brother and I. And we say you're wrong, wrong, wrong. So shut it. Also, the idea that lack of a father (in the case of a lesbian household) creates a big, gaping void in a child's heart is wrong too--that's what a community and extended family is for: to introduce a greater diversity of adult influence into your kids' lives. That's what makes a well-adjusted child: parents who want and love them, and the support and love of a larger community. Mother+father= only possible balanced upbringing? Totally shortsighted. Sounds like lack of life experience and imagination that leads people to these conclusions.

Here's my question: why are the homophobes reading Dan Savage--is it his exquisite wit or rock-solid common sense?...Or are they just here to pick fights on the internet? That seems even lonelier than surfing the dating sites looking for love. Truly--why? No one's mind is going to get changed like that.
This story pissed me right off. Shame is a super destructive experience for a child--and if it happens at the right time and in the right situation, a little can go a long way towards shaping that kid's sense of self. Those ABC moms are fucked up. I can't believe they would be so unaware as to bring it up in front of Boo.
