Mar 6 ANOPRAX commented on How Jean Godden and Tim Burgess Misled the City Council to Win a Vote Against Homeless Encampments.
Wait... the names must be mixed up here. Sawant is the only one that is divisive on council right?!

@6 sitting in the street isn't a felony.

Except that the study concluded that this behavior is a result of the bears being orphaned from an early age and raised in captivity. http://www.vice.com/read/science-has-fig…

Yes, @1, leafleting is a terror weapon.
Apr 24, 2014 ANOPRAX commented on It's Official: Washington State's Schools Are Very, Very Bad.
I think what this really shows is a lack of knowledge on the author's part of what NCLB is actually about. Little else.

This is a bad thing for students and teachers. It does not indicate that the schools are bad; they are but this doesn't indicate that. What both students and teachers need is fewer standardized tests and more money for teachers (smaller classroom size being the best path to increased success) and materials. That's going to mean an income tax on the super wealthy which this state has plenty of.
Mar 13, 2014 ANOPRAX commented on Higher Minimum Wage Wasn't a Job Killer.
@4 Let me see if I got your argument straight... the minimum wage is the only thing that contributes to a higher cost of living.

That's ridiculous. Anyway, the difference between the minimum wage in Seattle and San Francisco is less than a dollar/hour.

Really nice try though.
Nov 18, 2013 ANOPRAX commented on Community-Labor Rally in Support of Boeing Machinists, 4 PM Today, Westlake Park, Council Member-Elect Kshama Sawant to Speak.
@5 Aren't tax payers already footing the bill for Boeing what with $8.7 Bil in tax give aways the state just passed?
Nov 1, 2013 ANOPRAX commented on 100 Rallies for Kshama Sawant!.
OMG cops destroyed tents at Occupy. I bet Kshama was behind it! People being prepared is the worst! We should have discussed it for another 6 weeks in general assumbly then let one dude block it because he didn't want to sleep on cold-ass rocks. Because that's what real democracy looks like.

What this is actually like it someone that actually has grassroots support and is fighting for things that people want to see is lending a real left-wing voice to Seattle politics. Not only that but she has a real chance to win and to continue doing just that!
Aug 15, 2013 ANOPRAX commented on Richard Conlin's Chance to Be a Hero.
@2 Commenter 3 is totally correct. Of course Socialists support density. For many of the reasons you state. Of course it's better for people to be able to affordably live close to where they work, and course it's better for the environment for people to live in cities with excellent public transportation.

But we don't have to make the false choice of density over social justice. We have a candidate that will stand for both. Will Sawant pose for publicity pictures with wealthy developers? Probably not... but that's also not really what I'm looking for in a city council member.
Jul 31, 2013 ANOPRAX commented on City Council Candidate Kshama Sawant Arrested Defending Homeowner from Eviction.
@20 seems to me that valuing people over bankers' profits is a good thing, right? The banks seem to be okay with creating more and more homelessness while homes sit empty all over the country.

Jeremy's situation isn't unique either. It wasn't like these activist hand picked one sympathetic story there are thousands of these stories.

I'm just not sure how people can defend the massive profits these banks make on the backs of ordinary people.
