An Interview With the Man In the Hat (Upon His Release from Jail After His May Day Arrest).
I kinda miss sweet doofuses like this from my days as prosecutor. These kids would show up, have no frickin' idea what they were protesting, cause trouble, insult or attack the arresting officers and then get cute with me (stupid but expected) and the judge when they showed up in court (never a good idea). Frequently they ended up spending a few days in custody not for protesting but for the stupid shit they did afterwards (throwing books at the judge, calling everyone pigs and dropping trou). On the other hand, the grown up protesters had a coherent reason for why they were protesting and if they were arrested is was a planned act of civil disobedience. They were usually very polite to the police officer, judges and attorneys. One frequent protester/arrestee explained to he understood that everyone was just trying to do their jobs. Shockingly the grownups rarely spent anytime in jail and were treated respectfully by the officers, court staff and attorneys.

SL Letter of the Day: Kiddie Porn Catch 22.
Because it's just so much fun for attorneys to chip in on this one. I do business law and we periodically get clients (usually computer techs) who stumble across stuff like this. We ALWAYS advise them to hand it over right away. Unlike the CA lawyer, I'm not so comfortable that keeping the computer and images unopened in a box wouldn't count as "possession." The law is pretty broad and juries in kiddie porn cases are fairly bloodthirsty.

How Well Did They Drive Stoned?.
I used to work as a muni prosecutor and learned more than I ever wanted to know about DUIs. The officer in the clip was totally right on impairment. Even if someone did get pulled over and arrested on a pot DUI with little or no impairment and a test result that was at or just above the legal limit, any prosecutor would drop that case like it was hot. The arrest and the test would be thrown out in a heart beat based on probable cause issues even a second year law student could spot. And the arresting officer would get a snarky email from the PA asking them why they were sending the PA worthless cases.

Denny's Slaps Around a Teabagger.
One really great way to get your franchise revoked (often without a notice and cure period) is to "harm the brand." I think spouting crap like this on national news would do it. I bet he and his attorney had a great "knock this shit off" chat. I wonder how he feels about all those "big government" policies and regulations that protect him from Denny's Corp. completely screwing him over? IN FL, franchisee rights are protected by the state and the FTC.

Sylvester Cann's Court Records Show a History of Poor Judgment.
I think he should absolutely have to explain it. In my misspent youth, I was charged with driving on a suspended license and made the exact same mistake (the summons made it to my folk's place not my dorm room). I was 21 and so scared by the very idea of a warrant that I got my butt into court and resolved the entire thing within 24 hours. AND NEVER GOT ARRESTED AGAIN. And I had to explain it to my law school, WSBA, and each and every prosecutors office I ever applied to, interned at or worked in.

Was Legalizing Medical Marijuana a Mistake?.
Thank you for taking on the weed lobby on this issue. I worked for several years as a prosecutor and CONSTANTLY dealt with the entitled, whiny and downright dangerous medical pot users who felt that they were entitled to get stoned and get behind the wheel. As a matter of policy our office wouldn't even charge a driving while stoned case unless the driving pattern put people at substantial risk. And I got tired of dealing with assholes who would drive in the wrong lane, run a red light, side-swipe a parked car and then think their prescription card made everything ok. I'm excited about the idea of legalization and would smoke if it were legal. But just like I don't pound a few beers and go pick up the kids from school, I'm not about to smoke a bowl and run to the grocery store. And anyone who does either of those things should end up exactly where they belong, in a courtroom sitting across the aisle from me.

Donald Trump Just Killed Hundreds of Babies.
I think I get where #3 and #7 are headed. My niece and nephew can't get some vaccines because their mother had GBS. So those two kids are at the complete mercy of other parents to get themselves and their kids vaccinated. My brother and sister in law aren't baby killer but are at a higher risk for having their babies killed.

If Anyone Needs Me, I'll Be in the Corner, Shooting Myself in the Head.
The commuter mug is needed since she spends most of her time in the minivan schlepping her children to soccer, school and scouts. I have never spent more time in my car than in the last six months I've been home with the kids. Maybe Mittens should promote that when he promises cheap oil.
