@ Seandr
Cool, but I've never been a fan of red. Not in penises anyway.
Enjoy your bong and Hippy babe. :)

The ad is on Dan's page. Click Savage in the tabs on top and there it is...big red penis.

Supporting her is not the same as supporting such a stupid, stupid idea.
As far as the ad...totally agree. So very sick of it. Recommend a couple of sticky notes over that side of the computer screen when the kids are around. In my field (adolescent psychiatry) I could probably get away with the boss knowing I am reading Dan at work, but big red penis pictures, not so much.

Dan, I remember reading something you wrote to the parents of a just out teen...something about teenage boys being teenage boys, and that fact doubling the amount of testosterone in a relationship. Perhaps when dad gets over this step, he should read that.

It seems to me that she is enjoying this. Telling everyone he sucks in bed. Asking gleefully if he minds his picture posted on line. If she truly just likes this game, then thanks for the picture and can we please move on? And if she truly is so miserable, thanks for the picture and SHE needs to move on.

Kameron, I like what you wrote very much. You should be very proud of your speech. You did a fine job of presenting the subject matter and an even finer job of articulating your thoughts and the reasoning behind them. You were clear and concise and anyone reading your paper, if they agree with your words or not, can tell you focused on the main aspects of your topic. You gave people something to think about. As far as not reading your paper at assembly, I hope you realize that sometimes grown-ups make the wrong choices for what they think are the right reasons. Don't let their wrong choice make you feel bad. Please know that your paper and your refusal to write a different one was very grown-up. Because of kids like you, some day this won't be a "controversial" topic. Please know that smart students like yourself are the future. The people that teach you at home and at school should also be very proud of you. P.S. I like your name. When you grow up I bet people will see it on novels or election ballets.

I breast fed my children each for as long as it was a good choice for our family. One until the age of one year and the 3until approx. 3 1/2 years old. I am not a earth mother attachment parenter. I nursed because it was the best choice for my family. My children are independent and quite normal. I can assure you that any issues they have are not due to extended nursing. In fact, one of my children was seriously ill for the majority of his life and breast feeding most likely helped his immune system, giving him a better chance of recovery. I am a strong advocate for nursing if that is what works for a family. Having said all this, I can assure you three things 1)While breast feeding is an act that stimulates the senses in the pleasurable way holding a child does (holding them close, hearing their breathing, establishing eye contact), it is in no way sexual for the average parent. Sorry to disappoint everyone who thinks nursing moms are getting off while the dads watch in excitement. Just not happening. 2) While I never shied away from public nursing with my infants..(it is easy to cover up and frankly my kid being feed the only thing they eat trumps your discomfort) when they got older it was in private...not secret mind you..but private. While I refuse to apologize or made to feel like a deviant..there is no reason to make others feel uncomfortable. And lastly, I feel very uncomfortable with the cover photo. Not because it is indecent but because she is clearly posing and doing it for the camera. There is no bonding accruing. He could be eating a cheeseburger for all the emotional stuff in this staged picture. I never nursed my kids that way and know of no other moms who did either. The photo is just trying to be in peoples faces. It works and I do not think in a beneficial way

Everything Dan and Daughter said made perfect sense. However, as a medical professional in the psychiatric field, there was something about this whole thing that sent up a red flag for me. Dad lives far away from his kids so they do not see him often. I would want to know what other changes in personality Dad is showing. Is there someone else they trust who sees Dad on a regular basis? Small changes often go unnoticed when a significant other is not around to notice. Is he more secretive across the board? No longer spending time with friends? (Seems like it if he won't even get off the computer to talk to his family when they visit.) Is this early onset dementia? A computer addiction? Depression? Uncontrolled Diabetes? (Fluctuating glucose levels can cause changes in personality, impulse control and decision making.) This is not to say in any way that Dad exploring his sexuality would be a bad thing. More power to him. But a change such as Daughter described makes me wonder. I would just want to be sure his new behavior is the reason for his changes, instead of physical changes causing the new behavior.
