Why hasn't any reporter, even Chris Wallace, followed up with something like: "But Congressman Ryan, you and Mitt Romney ran on the idea of repealing Obamacare, and the American people decisively chose to stick with Obamacare. Why are you so set on thwarting the will of the American people? Why are you so dead set against democracy?"
Mar 4 scott (the other one) commented on What Do You Think About Steven Spielberg Finishing Kubrick's Napoleon?.
AI is very, very flawed but is also extremely underrated. Kubrick wanted Spielberg to direct it, much of what people criticize about it was Stanley's, and the ending—far from being saccharine—is incredibly dark.

"I do think it's silly how selective people are in their outrage. As pointed out above, plenty of artists are hateful bigots, yet their art continues to be recognized."

Once again, since you seem determined to gloss over it, this isn't about him being a bigot. This is about him being an activist. This isn't about his opinions, this is about his actions.
Feb 16 scott (the other one) commented on Comic Book Stores Refuse to Carry Hateful Homophobe Orson Scott Card's Superman Comic.
"While these small business owners are perfectly within their rights to refuse to carry a book by a bigot, imagine if every book by a bigot were taken off the shelves. A lot of great writers have been bigoted or otherwise horrible people in their personal lives."

It's not that OSC is a bigot. It's that he's a high-profile anti-gay activist. This isn't about his opinions. It's about his actions.

"This is not a Republican or Democratic issue."

Yes it is. It's entirely a Republican issue. They don't believe in helping Americans unless the Americans are conservative white males. They actively enjoy hurting everyone else.
Jan 2 scott (the other one) commented on House Adjourns Without Considering Sandy Relief Aid.
It's not really clear to me why the federal government should be subsidizing disasters in states where one should expect extreme weather. This is not a federal concern, and it's definitely not in the enumerated powers of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution.

Let me see if I can help you out here. From the very first sentence of of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution:

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States."

Nate Silver is right--this is going to be a very close election.

Nate Silver is usually right. And as of today, he's saying there's a 72.0% chance of Obama winning with 301.1 electoral votes. That's not what most folks consider "close."

"Even Darth Vader, in the end, has a little bit of a conscience."

That's not quite it. Cheney, like so many conservatives, changes his tune when it affects him personally.
Jan 19, 2012 scott (the other one) commented on President Gingrich Would Ignore Supreme Court Rulings.
I can't help but feel that the current Supreme Court, by being so nakedly political in its decisions, helped bring about this lack of respect for it, even by one of its own.
