I just heard John F'ing Carlson state on his show today that the average salary of a Seattle Public Schools teacher is $72,000 not including benefits.

And the average for a school teacher in WA State is about 10K less than that.

Where does this guy get this stuff?

Of course he blames all the problems of the Seattle Schools on the teachers and their unions and this supposedly has scared away a few of the candidates for the superinendent's job.

Then he said "progressives" in Seattle are "pushing back" promoting charter schools..

It just doesn't end with guy. Thoughts?

Ken Russell really went on a tear in the 70's. He was deliriously, disturbingly over-the-top..

Tommy was memorable to me. I was a big fan of Pete Townshend's melodies, soaring ambitions, and very strange "rock opera" ( a deaf, dumb and blind "pinball wizard"???).. I remember Russell's take on this as a withering visual/aural assault..

In the light of revelations about Townshend's childhood abuse, Russell seemed to get it right.

You either loved or hated Russell. I can't imagine watching any of his movies today either his 70's classics or his later, tamed down material so I guess I hated him. But he made too much of an impression on me and I'll never forget his work..

RIP..

hooligans

Coincidence #3: spouting overheated rhetoric and then when called on it "apologizing".

The people arrested were american citizens protesting injustice. What they did and will continue doing is necessary - the political system has been failing too many people for too a long time.

"Hooligans" are right wing tools suppressing votes, kneecapping labor, rolling back social programs and exporting jobs overseas..

Sleep tight. You've made good bedfellows.

I actually work for a living and have a couple of rentals.

Did I read that it's up to 3 now?? Congrats. Attending Dino Rossi's foreclosure seminar must have paid off.

So by your logic all post under the name 'lostinaseaofblue'.

Ahhhh. I recommend a refresher in logic. No other meaning was intended beyond you and the trolling retiree from horsesass.org, lostinaseaofblue, both coincidentally having residences in Italy.

And both spouting similar glibertarian tripe.

As I said before, more "coincidences" will be forthcoming.

14 - Heh.. Lots of trolls out there spouting rigid glibertarian tripe have places in Italy it seems.. You and lostinaseaofblue should get together to trade your favorite bromides and Goldy taunts while lounging at the boot.

Other comparisons will be forthcoming. Why keep up the pretense?

Making the cops look good??? In your eyes??? That goes without saying...

I'm sorry in extreme times you'll see behavior that may not comport with your sense of decorum. We have 25 million who are out of work or can't find employment that's worth a damn. 40 million are on food stamps. Look down your nose at them all you'd like and condemn them for having children when unemployment was under 5 percent and not having the crystal ball that you bought at a yard sale.

More levelheaded people will conclude that something is seriously wrong

And the occupiers and their fellow travelers will be the butt of jokes until the smug types who are lucky enough to be so gainfully employed aren't laughing anymore.. Who knows if the "divorce your bank" movement takes off as have the occupy encampments, they themselves may be downsized out of a job. Couldn't happen to nicer people.

People speaking up in a manner that gets noticed and galvanizes others in similar circumstances to get educated and get involved does a lot for me personally. Too bad that you are inspired only to cheer even the worst abuses of law enforcement.

How about old episodes of "Dragnet"?

LOL! Like James Ellroy that twisted Tory.. He writes a mean hyper sexed-up detective story.

The occupiers have made a choice like the civil rights marchers made in the 60's. AFAICT, they're willing to accept the consequences for their actions. The movement continues to grow.

The occupiers are calling attention to the failure of the political system to correct economic policies that since the late 70's have acted to redistribute income UPWARD - labor laws skewed against workers, open-ended free trade policies, deregulation, unnecessary tax cuts for the rich and corporations, among others.

Perhaps they should take over the Democratic party as the tea partiers have taken over parts of the Republican party but I trust they'll get there.

I support nuclear power wholeheartedly but this catastrophe in Japan reminds me of why I opposed and loathed nuclear power for most of my life. This 2nd generation style nuclear reactor should have been shut down by now. The nuclear industry has been slow to innovate and governments have been short sighted and corrupted and compromised by fossil fuel interests.

Japan is not going to abandon nuclear power. They are an island nation and need to import almost all their fuel. It wouldn't hurt for Japan to invest some in renewables but no way is it going to do the job. The Japanese if they're smart will phase out these earthquake vulnerable nuke behemoths and replace them with a fleet of much safer 4th generation designs.
