Jan 24, 2013 Shaman commented on SL Letter of the Day: What Do I Say to My Ex-Straight/Ex-Gay/Ex-Straight/Ex-Gay Brother?.
The letter is an obvious cry for attention from a hurt individual who is seeking validation or approval for his actions. Someone who is constantly self-hurting, looking for acceptance from others, and seeks conflict to validate their choices doesn't have an self inside that is solid. He is seeking the Self, but continues to seek external to his form and that will continue to roil into a cycle of more and more self-hatred until he decides for himself that he has suffered enough and is done with it. This might be on his death bed, but it will happen, so the advice here is pretty spot on. Be there for your brother BROS, but don't let yourself get entangled in his own personal samsāra.

Why are these people so irritated about gay marriage? According to their own stories, Jesus had two dads, and he turned out to be the savior of humanity.

Tips from a PAX goer:
Buy some Zinc tablets and possibly Vitamin C tablets/'Emergen-C'. They may seem like they don't work, but anecdotally, I've not had concrud three years running.

EAT FOOD, ACTUAL FOOD. CANDY AND SUGAR WILL MAKE YOU SICK. Not to mention make you pass the hell out at inopportune times, or worse become angry in the middle of that Twilight Emperium match you FINALLY GOT TO RUN.

Don't be afraid to take a nap. Seriously. But, if you don't sleep this weekend, do yourself a favor and drink more water and eat more food. That flesh bag of yours easily becomes a shambling corpse.

If it's your first year, don't be afraid to just wander about and sit where you are interested. There is something FOR EVERY GAMER, you may just be pleasantly surprised.

Don't be afraid of the Enforcers. They are there to help you and will answer your questions in the most professional manner possible. They will not, nor should not, in any way shape or form, touch you, hurt you, frisk you, or otherwise be like TSA agents. They are volunteers who are there spending their time to make the convention your playground and temple! That said, DO NOT BE A DICK, period. That's a rule.

Consider a shirt and clothing that wicks perspiration from you, especially if you're lugging about a huge costume or prop or bag o'swag. It's air conditioned... but there's thousands of people, within twenty to fifty feet of you at all times. Compression shirts and clothing seem to work really well for me.

Deodorant, seriously. This is not a joke, do yourself a huge favor. DO NOT BE THAT PERSON.

Bring a game you love. You will find more fans, and more converts than you know what to do with if you're willing to share.

BRING A BAG OF HOLDING. Well, a bag, in any case, one that you like to lug things around in, but bring a bag TWICE THE SIZE you normally would. Half of it should be your things you're carrying like games or food or water (bringing your own water bottle and food will save you money and time as well!), the other half should be available for the inevitable stuff you will likely pick up.

The final tip? Have fun. I'm surprised at how many people go to conventions and come back more stressed out.

I remember going there once when Cinematic Titanic came to town to promote and perform live some of their new riffs! I was so excited, and surprised at what occurred that night! I got to meet some of my comedic heroes from my younger days watching MST3K at my grandmother's house in Texas, I watched one of those plastic receptacles for cigarette butts turn into a melty smoky mess, and I still hold those tickets to this day, with the signatures of all who performed that night. I remember thinking, damn, why don't I come here more often.

Since his power is will, and his will can create anything. Yes, I can see many applications. Racks, full suits, extensions, suspension (pain or no), bukkake guard, whatever lifts your luggage. However, Spiderman would obviously be very specialized... I'd say Green Lantern would be more generalist in terms of sexual innuendo and power use.

Now, most people don't get paid every week, but every two weeks. If it's 40 dollars a paycheck, times 26 paychecks, it's about $1040, which is less, but... still that can be a lot, especially for frugal minded people.

Now, what would I do with 40 dollars? Man, that's food for a week if I want to live on sandwiches and large crock pot soup mixes (for the leftovers). I can buy the really good bread and meat too. I could buy fresh produce from my local market to cook really great meals every once in a while.
Dec 22, 2011 Shaman commented on What Can YOU Do With $40?.
40 dollars a week x 4 = 160 dollars a month x 12 = 1920/yr. That's a lot for someone who makes less than 30k a year. That's around 1/15th of their total income or more! However, if we don't have taxes, the government has no revenue, which means they cannot provide services. However, if we reduced our military budget substantially, we'd still be able to offer services, allow inflation to occur, reduce our debt, and possibly actually stop the madness.

But what imperial nation wants to do that? Not the fucking United States, that's for goddamn sure. After the actions of our military and leaders, I'm surprised we're not already embroiled in World War III.

Mayor, your prior inaction says more than this note will ever say. You're allowing peaceful protesters to be intimidated and violently removed from their legal gathering. You needed to be a leader, not a whimpering apologist. You have disappointed your citizens with this action.

@ all: Sorry for the double post. I don't understand this thing yet.

@15: I can not assume anything. I can only ask relevant questions based on objective facts and be present enough to understand them in context. Baseless accusation and name calling only infuriate and feed people's egos, not to mention are logical fallacies. It's important that we are willing to debate our issues rather than immediately declare that any other viewpoint is blasphemous and akin to physical violence against us.

Hello . (poster of comments 11, and 2)

Could you explain your viewpoint more to me with your sources of objective data? Could you tell me what you would do differently to make sure that these things that you have identified no longer occur and create a better environment for these people? I'm very interested in knowing if we're all wrong about this and that you really do have a better solution.

Thank you for your time.
