i'd say that if Seattle really measured up as a self-proclaimed progressive city, then we'd have more than just one person of color on the current city council, or as mayor or city attorney.

Not really sure that the Chamber got its money's worth for those recommendations since there already is an aggressive panhandling ordinance and a sidewalk obstruction ordinance. Seattle Municipal Code 12A.12.15. Why try and create a new law when there's already a good one on the books? It sounds like an enforcement, not a legislative, problem.

Pugel was appointed two and a half weeks ago and obviously didn't raise the video during the vetting process before the announcement. Good for Pugel for responding to @10's question a couple of weeks later, but you have to wonder about why it took so long, and whether the Mayor's office even knew this was coming.
