Oh fer cryin' out loud... can't we just be human beings? Why do we have to have all these different labels? Anything that makes it obvious that you are somehow different from me is just another thing to divide us. And it's an easy way to avoid thinking about new situations and opportunities because "I'm (straight, gay, vanilla, monogamous, whatever) so I just can't do that!"

If I had a dime to spare, it would go to this. Best wishes to all!

"People don’t vote against a candidate. They vote for a candidate."

"But I was happy to vote against Mitt Romney, too."

"So my advice wasn't just bad, it was hypocritical. Mea culpa."

Thanks Dan. Perfect. Here's what I really like about this:

1) Human being makes a mistake. (OMFG! No, wait, it happens sometimes.)

2) He takes shit for the mistake. (It happens a lot.)

3) He doesn't become defensive and hostile, but instead considers said shit.

4) He explains the thought process used to arrive at the mistake, explains what was wrong in that process, and admits it was in fact a mistake. He takes responsibility.

5) Most of us survive the horrific experience, barely.

I wish we could have a little (no, a LOT) more of this these days, and a whole lot less finger pointing and blame shifting.

If only it were the United Sates. We'd all be a lot happier.

Well, the SLLOTD doesn't always go out to folks who have the Savage Love app for Android. I can go for several days without seeing one. Sometimes I get multiples after a dry spell, and sometimes I'm just completely cut off for a while. I guess the SLLOTD admin and I... well, we have different needs. We're just not compatible. But I knew that was a possibility when I downloaded it.

But when they work they're so good...

VABG, I don't think I've got anything new to add. But I didn't get ANY brothers or sisters, and I'd be happy to have you as my sister. Hang in and know you're a good person.

Oh yes, and child support. Get it. Your nephew's parents are responsible for his expenses, not you. And I can't think of anything better than to make them write out a check to you every month. Be sure to send back photos of all the gay stuff (whatever that might be) that you buy with their money.

@81, I am not kid-friendly and I would never write you off as a person. I would write you off as a potential partner, but that's as much because I'd be bad for you and your baby as that fact that your baby would be bad for me. It's not just a matter of "eh, don't like kids." Eh, I don't like kids, I've *never* wanted kids, I know nothing about raising kids, I've failed terribly at being a stepmom already, and quite honestly I get sick at the thought of trying it again. Many people should not be brain surgeons. And plenty of people should not be parents or step-parents. I fall into both categories. That's not a reflection on you, that's all me.
