@1 hey musicguy. i apologize if i have offended; i was not trying to talk down on your town. i was in Winnipeg in September and found it completely fascinating... and warm. but i did find it strangely violent. there was fresh blood all over the sidewalk outside a club i visited, there was an unrelated stabbing down the street, and the promoter shared stories of a grizzly dismemberment/beheading/castration in an apartment above the club a few years prior. the rest of my statements are based primarily on information relayed from a handful of Manitoban friends and Weakerthans lyrics (see "One Great City!").

@4 would've loved to see the Minutemen cover. did they swap out the names (E. Bloom, Richard Hell, Joe Strummer, John Doe, Mike Watt) to make it more autobiographical?
