commented on Will "Cisgender" Survive?
I work with the LGBTQ group on my campus where many of the students identify as a- or queer- gendered, and it's an important designation for them because of pronoun use! I am a female presenting cis gendered woman, and those designations add up to my preference for she/her (but is not the only way to do pronoun arithmetic). Cis is a great term.

@16 I'm not going to tell you how to live your personal life, but please tell your fiancé what you told us, if they don't already know. Speaking from experience, they will blame themselves regardless of any note you leave after the fact if they continue an unwitting relationship with someone on the determined path to cease existing.

Are the videos of what happens to the viaduct in an earthquake still up on SDOT's site? I got so goddamn paranoid after being barraged with their propaganda...though I see they aren't so intetested in reminding us now that we have the absolutely slowest replacement option dead in the ground.
I do think the tunnel is a terrible idea, but we collectively decided we needed to do something, and soon, since the viaduct is unsafe. Apparently this wasn't exactly the most efficient solution however.

@13 My understanding on the term is that it's a terrible insult for exactly the history you describe there--douchebags are bad now not because they go into vaginas but because they were used to harm and shame vaginas. Calling someone a douchebag *is* a terrible insult, but it's because you're essentially calling them an old-fashioned ladyshame device, filled with poison and broken promises, which I think describes the personality of most straight male douchebags pretty damn well.
