commented on How Oklahoma Beat Us to State-Funded Universal Pre-K
I'm glad this Eddins guy passed universal pre-K, but his comment about "only young mothers would vote for it" makes me gag. (1) That is such a Republican mindset (I don't know what his politics are - it doesn't matter). I'm not a young mother and I would absolutely support universal pre-K. It's only selfish dicks who think they should only pay for the fire engine if their own house is on fire who would say differently. (2) What - fathers don't have any say in their children's care? Do they just live in their kids' house and think everything is taken care of by magic?

commented on What You Should Know About Woody Allen's New Movie
I just can't get over the fact that Allen made NOT ONE BUT TWO movies about a guy who kills his girlfriend and gets away with it. Crimes and Misdemeanors in particular is just a parade of female stereotypes. Frumpy clueless housewife, shrill mistress, pathetic divorcee, judgmental frigid wife, golddigging single chick. I can't stand that movie.

Charles, are you trolling? This is so sexist.
There's a perception that women are more empathetic, but that's ONLY because society expects it and and therefore it become self-perpetuating (i.e. women think they should be empathetic and men think it's not manly). It has zero to do with cavemen.

commented on "ACCOUNTANTS ARE COWBOYS OF INFORMATION"
The site's headline is misinformed. The class DFW was in was clearly not a tax accounting class - it's just an elementary financial accounting class. The word "tax" never appears (as indeed it rarely does in first-year accounting). I know no one cares about this, but "accounting" does not equal "tax." I've been an accountant since 2007 and I've never done anyone's taxes - I've only ever worked in the financial reporting department of various businesses.
And yes, I know the character in the novel worked for the IRS.
And @4, yeah, you can, if you and/or your employer have no morals. In most situations that's not the case - those just don't make the news.

commented on Holy Crap: More Lazy Obama Supporters "Sleeping Till Noon"!
My only argument here is that the population of SAHMs are perpetuating sexism and therefore I don't think it's appropriate to list a SAHM in the accompanying article (so @33 is wrong, the point is relevant). I'll just point out that no one has rebutted this argument. Replying to "SAHM-ism is sexist" with "It works for me" is a non sequitur.
