The reason so many Crimeans voted for annexation is there was effectively no option for those that wanted Crimea to remain a part of Ukraine, so those people abstained from voting. It could very well be that the 93% number is accurate, not due to vote fixing or military coercion, but due to the way the referendum was written.

Have you tried Perspective? A group of students at DigiPen in Redmond made it a couple years ago. You can download it here: http://games.digipen.edu/games/perspecti…

@Charles, I have never been more sure of anything in my life. Please issue a correction after you have tasted Mr. Gyros' gyros.

Incorrect. Mr. Gyros in Ballard/Greenwood makes the best gyros in town.

Here's how I break down the argument this video makes:

1) A gay character in a movie wore a jacket.
2) Rick Perry wore a similar jacket in a commercial where he advocates homophobic policies.
3) Therefore, Rick Perry is an idiot and a hypocrite.

I don't disagree with the conclusion, but to me, the way the video arrives at it is about as sophisticated as labeling Obama a socialist because he appointed a czar.

I'm all for mocking this fool, but who the fuck cares about his jacket? It's probably hanging in the closets of a good portion of Perry's older, working-class, rural, male constituents. Why not point out a contradiction in this bigot's belief system rather than pretend there's something hypocritical about wearing a ranch jacket?

@45,

Most of my backpacking experience is in Glacier, which has grizzlies in addition to smaller and less aggressive black bears. In Glacier, if a grizzly is sighted near a campground, the park service closes it until the bear loses interest and goes elsewhere. To know that a grizzly has become interested in a campground but leave it open to backpackers anyway would be negligent.

It sounds like the rangers at Olympic knew that there was an aggressive animal that hung around one of the park's trails, but they didn't close the trail or remove the animal. Whether it's the park's fault or someone else's, it sounds like negligence to me.

@Queen of Sleaze: Imagine if the park service had received multiple reports of bear sightings at the campground in the week leading up to your encounter, yet they decided to leave the campground open anyway. Would the park have any responsibility then?

National parks != wilderness. Visitors have a right to expect the park service will do everything they can to ensure their safety. Yes, accidents happen, but sometimes they're preventable - and if the park doesn't do anything to prevent it, then they become liable.
