The beauty of this situation is that if no one does anything, it resolves itself. The unwise Bush Tax Cuts expire for everyone and we go back to the more reasonable tax rates of the Clinton era, these are the rates that created a record budget surplus. Everyone is saying the debt is a bad thing, so lets pay it off. Lets fully fund the things we need while we are at it. I don't see the Republicans becoming reasonable, nor making needed compromises. However, this automatic course of action needs no support from them.

"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." - Iassic Asimov, witer and long time President of MENSA.

I still am amazed that human beings can successfully dehumanize others to the point where they can justify violence against them to further thier ideology. Is thier ideology so weak that it is not convincing? Indoctrination is one method of imprinting an ideology on the impressionable, like children. Violent negative conditioning must be the lowest form of indoctrination. Using it on children in this manner is despicable.

I'm with Banna @2. I grew up watching music videos on MTV, interspersed with news and specials about music. I watched music videos and other musical content dwindle away to nothing or nearly so over the years. Then I discovered MTV2 about 10-12 years ago when I had satellite TV, I was so happy! An MTV that actually has music videos and related content. Sadly, I had to go back to cable to get decent broadband Internet, and lost access to MTV2 in the process. On occasion VH1 plays some videos, or has music related programming, which is comforting. Otherwise, my only access to music videos would be when I buy them on iTunes.

I'm glad to see MTV is moving to better programming with content like Dan's show. It had become the network known for lowest-class reality TV.

If I was Jephthah's daughter, I would have been two months hard travel away when the appointed day came to pass. Weeping in the mountains because she wouldn't marry seems to be a pretty useless waste of a good head start to me . . .

I also thought it was pagan gods that wanted human sacrifices, especially virgins? If this increased my chances of being a "burnt offering" I'd waste no time in disposing of my virginity either!

Well, I think I agree with gloomy gus on this one @7. Although swiftly vetoing the bill won't hurt Christie's stock in the short term, it will cause history to judge him differently. Can anyone remember George Wallace favorably now? Or will we always think of him as one of the last staunchest defenders of segregation? He even renounced these views later in life, but that was a little after the fact.

Christie could "evolve" or sign it stating his objections, etc. However, he will go on record as a hater, and history so far has eventually judged haters harshly.

Wow! This self-hating "ex" homo finds that the It Gets Better Project causes gay teen suicide? So offering hope, sharing experiences, and offering moral support makes people suicidal?

What is this strange new form of newspeak is this guy ducktalking? George Orwell never imagined this in his novel "1984".
Also, arrested? For what? Trying to save LGBT people from becoming people like him?

I bet he's a youth pastor now . . .

I wish I had seen this article last night, it pretty much validates my point @18 on why I won't buy e- books from Amazon (nonstandard format and DRM):

Maybe I'm in a different part of the country than many commenters, but the brick and mortar bookstores in my city (Baton Rouge) seem to be doing pretty well. Well, except for the former Border's, but even that was doing good business at the trendiest part of our biggest mall before the chain tanked. Our Barnes & Noble has a pretty full parking lot, plenty of students, and families with kids whenever I stop buy. The Books-A-Millions aren't as popular, but are doing OK in thier locations, and we have a few used book stores that are doing fine. Amazon probably is selling books in our area, but it's not putting the tangible book stores out of business. I personally will use either on-line or local sources for tangible books, but I will not buy e-books from anyone using proprietary DRM, therefore no Amazon e-books for me.

Let's see, this is the same deity that the Christians later maintain is "The God of Love"?

Good points on several issues Paul. Just how many jobs and of what quality did this "job creator" bing about with his great wealth?:
