Garak. For reals. My first (and, quite possibly, only) TV crush. Swoon.

Fix the initiative process.

(Trans equality would be nice, but Ontario, Manitoba, and the freakin' Northwest Territories already beat you to the punch. So now you just need to wait 11 years, like you did with marriage equality.)
Nov 12, 2012 Cow commented on Foxconn Factory In the Ruins of Detroit?.
What @2 said. Detroit hasn't been more alive in my lifetime. (I'll be there again next week.)

Also, on top of wages narrowing, fuel goes up; at some point it becomes cheaper to pay people here than to manufacture cheap shit halfway around the world and then pay to ship it here. Now we just need to figure out what to do with landfills full of barely-a-year-old cellphones...
Nov 9, 2012 Cow commented on Gregoire Not Talking to the Feds About Pot (Yet).
@1 I suspect it switches to liberalization of the new law--toward a someday future where you can buy store-brand pot at the QFC, instead of state-run stores--plus a focus on national decriminalization.
Nov 6, 2012 Cow commented on Ohmigod, What the Fuck Has Happened to My Ballot?.
@14 thanks! I'll give them a call today, then. (Weirdly enough, I can access the ballot tracker, it just shows it as unreceived.)
Nov 5, 2012 Cow commented on Ohmigod, What the Fuck Has Happened to My Ballot?.
One question: if you're an overseas voter, or if you lose your ballot and do the on-line option, you can e-mail or fax your ballot in. Any clue how that shows up on the ballot tracker? In previous years I swear it's showed it as fully processed (same as a mailed ballot), but mine is still showing as unreceived a week later.

(I'm going to call KC Elections tomorrow and ask them the same question, given that it's my ballot (!). But, hey, you might know the answer and this might be applicable to someone else.)
Nov 3, 2012 Cow commented on Nate Silver: "Obama led in 19 battleground state polls today. Romney led in one.".
It just hasn't been long enough for Rove's billionaires to come back. We still remember the 2000s.

That, and the generational and demographic transitions continue.

It is kind of amazing how many of the horse race stories are clear and utter nonsense--CNN calling the job report this week good news for both candidates, for example--though. They've progressed from twisting the truth to outright lies to keep this narrative going...
Nov 2, 2012 Cow commented on The Apology Tour Starts Here.
What @1 said.

Also, you do realize that both of your parties are far, far to the right of even our Conservatives, yes? And this whole thing really is kind of 'a pox upon both your houses' situation from here?
Oct 18, 2012 Cow commented on Ben Stein Tells the Truth on Fox News.
"Even a stopped clock can tell you it's hot if you put it in the oven at 450 degrees for a half an hour."

Not that this would have been a clever line *anyway*, but it's especially classy when talking about a Jewish man born during WW2.

Stay classy, Paul.
Oct 18, 2012 Cow commented on Either Romney Was Lying to GOP Base During the Primaries....
"Some enterprising young reporter might want to ask Mitt"

Right. If they can find him. Mitt's gonna be in a media-free bunker until Election Day. They're hiding him where they hid Cheney.
