Mar 3 Wandergeist commented on Public Opinion Changes.
The situations aren't exactly comparable, though: do you think most people will come to view the lack of a state income tax as a simple act of predjudice ?
Feb 27 Wandergeist commented on Jesus Sues.
Given the absurdity of some of the patents the PTO has approved over the last decade, I'm not surprised this kind of idiocy has extended to the trademark side of the house.
Feb 25 Wandergeist commented on Some Horse in Ikea's Meatballs.
Keep in mine that this is a scandal in Europe, including countries where horse-meat is a regular, accepted, and uncontroversial item on the menu. This has nothing to do with the norms of squeamish Americans; the issue isn't the species, but what its presence says about the safety, regulation, and labeling of the food supply.
Feb 20 Wandergeist commented on Honoring Tibet with Yak Butter and Liquid Nitrogen.
If you'd rather spend less money on lunch instead of dinner and have 100% of it go to a school for girls in India, the Kiran Anjali Project is having its annual fundraiser luncheon on March 14th.
Feb 20 Wandergeist commented on Squatting Girls and Lying Women Are the Last Stand.
@1 yes, but usually they're in pants -- and if they're wearing a skirt it's generally arranged a little differently. Many in Asia also squat that way to use the toilet as well. It's actually a comfortable way to rest once your legs get used to it (your heels have to remain on the ground; the western tendency to go up on the toes in this position is crazy and self-defeating).
They all have blank patches where "privates" would be revealed
...exactly like legal Japanese porn (anime and manga; live action the area is blurred instead). I'm convinced that prior to the internet there were many adult men in Japan who avidly consumed porn but had only the vaguest idea of what female genitalia actually looked like.
Feb 20 Wandergeist commented on How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth It Is to Get a Form Letter.
You might want to check your meds: it's possible you're Ambien-ing your way to auditions without knowing it -- and failing those auditions (literally "sleepwalking" through a part is rarely what they're looking for). But by all means keep trying: every actor at every audition needs to be able to look around the room and think "well at least I have a better shot than THAT guy."
Feb 19 Wandergeist commented on Morning News: Diamond Heists, Scheming China, and 3-D Yodas.
Headline of the day:
"Brothers celebrate lottery win by blowing up house"

Needless to say, the celebrations involved meth, bongs...and butane.
Feb 13 Wandergeist commented on Fake AP Stylebook Wins the Internet.
@5: I've been using that word for years. "Corporate concubine" sounds so much better than "trophy wife" -- and covers a wider range of situations too. But I've been told that when it is a man who is being "kept" (by a financially-endowed woman or gay man) the term is "cockubine." Which isn't gender-neutral but is amusing.
Feb 13 Wandergeist commented on BREAKING: Oversharing on Facebook Is Bad for Your Relationships.
I got on FB in 2007 to follow friends who had moved to India and weren't going to communicate any other way. Since they got back in 2009 I think I've visited FB three times. I'd suggest reading Failbook instead -- it's probably more entertaining than anything your real (or fake only-on-FB) friends are saying or doing.
