I agree that the charges probably shouldn't have been filed, but @2 & 4, where does it say that this guy went to jail on this charge? I'm not defending the charge, but just because someone was charged doesn't mean that they went to jail.

Is Alex even 18? He doesn't look like he's old enough to own a gun.

The 37th passed a similar resolution on Monday night.

This is a fair attack on Goldy's part. It's well known in the criminal-law world that Dunn got the position because of his mother, that he was't a stand-out by any stretch of the imagination, and that he's seriously overselling his "prosecutor" cards.

Setting aside the "jail" portion of the building, there are a number of other things that happen in the current building that need a home, including families going through dependency matters--because the parents are abusive, deep in drug addiction, or somethig else. Those people are goig through the worst times of their lives--they deserve a building where they're not at risk of getting shot when there's a gang fight in the lobby, or getting some unknown illness from drinking the brown water.

And the kids who are going through diversionary services with probation deserve the same things. As do the court employees who work to keep at-risk kids safe.

I want judges who are smart and share my general values, but don't go into things with an overt agenda. She has an agenda, and will probably be as problematic as Sanders on a number of issues, including property rights and gun rights. And in her particular field, where people generally respect each other and behave above-board, her "feistiness" has caused her to take steps that have lost her respect among peers.

I'd love to see input from the likes of Sharon Tomiko-Santos or Ray Akers on this (although maybe Ray is responsible for comment #4). Sharon, who would probably agree that losing diversity in the neighborhood is a shame, consistently fights any of the efforts that have been proposed to counteract this problem.

According to the secretary of state's website, he now has THREE opponents. It's pretty unheard of for a sitting judge to have that many challengers.

It's also worth noting that this survey is completed by every type of attorney. So if it were just one portion of the bar that didn't like a judge (like plaintiff's lawyers, or criminal defense attorneys), he wouldn't have such consistently bad numbers.
