You Don't Know Either, Amanda Palmer.
"a deluded and opportunistic narcissist who sells rhetorical snake oil to people too full of unearned self-regard to join an actual cult."
uff da! that really cuts to the core of all this. I remember once seeing a teenage girl during the height of Dresden Dolls popularity with "PUNK CABARET IS FREEDOM!!!" boldly written on her backpack. I'm not one to sneer at the adolescent penchant for overt sloganeering as my clothes and bookbags were covered in Crass lyrics when I was 15, but what the fuck does that even mean? it's not a message, it's not even propaganda. it's more of revelation...like "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE". the statement itself is an empty non-sequitur that impressionable people somehow found empowering. how?? and the above quote finally sums up what I've felt about that moment and plenty of others since that revolved around Amanda Palmer.

Pickwick: Officially a "Hipster Band".
I'm fine with the continued use of the word hipster if it is used in the context of whatever disgusting music Pickwick plays, and not as a general slur against "people who like stuff".

Maggie Thatcher; Celebrating Her Legacy with Crass.
I hate 'em too, Mike.
also, my pick was "How Does It Feel", but re-reading the first four lines you posted from "Big A Little A" sent my gears spinning. they sum the whole reactionary/conservative mindset up perfectly.

If You Have a Mega-Mega Hit, When Should You Play It in Your Set?.
am I the only person wondering about "If You Leave"'s overall relevance? I mean, I know Pretty In Pink was a huge movie and the song has been everywhere forever, but it's hardly OMD at their best. mega hit or not, I can't imagine most of the band's actual fans giving a shit.
