A "social media consultant". Of course.

@33, that's slightly vaguely worded, but I think they're referring to the freedom of businesses to decide not to sell you a good or service ahead of time (called "invitation to treat" I think). Once you've incurred a debt (e.g. at the end of a cab ride when you owe money), that's where the "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" comes into play.

For God's sake, it's BREAD. Why would there need to have been any weirdo chemicals within it?

Yeah, and I heard some big evil chains use SODIUM HYDROGEN CARBONATE to make muffins! Mucking fuffins! Who needs chemicals for that? BAN SODIUM HYDROGEN CARBONATE AS A FOOD ADDITIVE. They use that shit as a FUCKING PESTICIDE. Oh wait.

Yeah, no, imagine that, some of these things are a little more nuanced. The reason to be grossed out by Subway's bread isn't necessarily because it uses azodicarbonamide, but because it's an industrial-scale product made to be produced as cheapy as possible in a country where chemical safety concerns are more industry-driven than public health-driven. (The issue with asthma for workers handling powdered azodicarbonamide is another issue, though it's not like Subway's dropping azodicarbonamide will save any of the yoga mat makers from asthma.)

If grand juries are so vital to our justice system, why have half of US states abolished them, as well as every other common law country that once had grand juries?

Specifically, it could have been this awful: UpStairs Lounge arson attack. "The UpStairs Lounge arson attack took place on June 24, 1973 at a gay bar located on the second floor of the three-story building at 141 Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. Thirty-two people were killed by fire or smoke inhalation. The most likely suspect, a gay man who had been thrown out of the bar earlier that day, was never charged."

KUOW is reporting that the school has cancelled classes for Friday due to the expectation of snow and the "difficult day" they had today.

Ontario, Washington, and a few other states and provinces have enough hydropower for this to be fairly easy to do. In many other places, the landscape just isn't capable of generating large amounts of hydropower efficiently.

Maybe it's partly the smaller council that worries people more, but it didn't seem to bother the DFL too much when I lived in Minneapolis and a couple Greens got elected to the city council (that was otherwise all DFL/democrats). Better than than looking like Chicago, with 50 aldermen, all 50 Democrats.

So it appears the angry man in the video is named Douglas Levison of Flower Power Creative, and attempted to explain his actions ("no apologies") here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeChbRBJK…
