Is "Weiner Mayor" like "Oscar Mayer"? Seems like they could be related...

The only thing I would add is that the managers who are forced to make the fries probably aren't doing much better financially than the people they're covering for, and are almost certainly making less than $15/hr themselves. So maybe cut them a little slack.

It's bullshit and he's an idiot, but I think another possible interpretation of what he is saying is that if people have a "right" to health care then he, the doctor, is enslaved - that the doctor would then have to provide for anyone who came along and demanded it. Remember, first and foremost people like Rand Paul are concerned with their own idea of "freedom" and don't give a fuck about anyone else.

Then I'm going to write the sequel: "So you think you're blessed by god: please explain why god chose you and shat all over everyone else you pompous dickbag".

I'm going to right a book entitled "What to do when you realize you're happy and fulfilled in life while other equally worthy (or better) people struggle and god has shit all to do with it: congratulations you're an atheist".

Did you come up with this all by yourself or just copy one of the prior 10,000 tweets that say the same thing?

Dan - I live in Cincinnati and read this article in the paper over my coffee Sunday morning. A significant point that you didn't mention, and I didn't catch until the end of the article, is that on top of it being a portrayal of what this couple had to go through to get married it is also an endorsement of marriage equality by the editorial board of the most conservative newspaper in the state of Ohio. I think that is huge.

@37 My understanding is that a non-state party would not have standing to defend state law in *federal* court. But like in the case of Prop 8, they could defend the law in state court. And to say the plaintiff would be "bound to win" presupposes that the state court of any given state would side with the plaintiff. It is also true that a non-state party could appeal/defend state law in federal court if they can show that they are tangibly harmed by the enforcement or lack of enforcement of that law.

@26 The full faith and credit clause is exactly what I was referring to, just not by name. That is the only way we're going to get gay marriage in all 50 states anytime soon - and I think it will be soon.
