A brick through a house window has been used as an implicit threat of violence for CENTURIES (probably since the invention of glass windows!). It was a notorious tactic of the KKK and other hate groups as a final warning before actual violence was used. It seems obvious that you're trying to backpedal, and justify some poorly thought out statements.

Firing all the teachers in a school is the most half-baked scheme I've ever heard of. Why would you want to create a staff where no one knows what the fuck they're doing? Speaking from experience, being a new teacher is incredibly hard. You are starting from scratch - curriculum, lesson plans, grading systems, etc. Teachers are an investment just like any other new employee. You don't hire someone straight out of college because you think they're going to be the best the first year. You hire them because you hope they'll be the best in 5-10 years. First year teachers are hip and passionate about teaching, but they're not the most effective. This has been shown numerous times in research studies (the most effective teachers are between years 5-15) so I'm not quite sure why the state and federal government continues to be so obsessed with the idea.

I know it's supposed to be a symbolic diss and everything, but I think it would be awesome to have people throw glitter wherever I went. I think the LGBT community needs to think of a slightly less sparkly insult.

You make it sound more interesting than I originally thought. I was initially imagining key note speeches of how much you should indent in proper bibliographic format.

I think this sounds lovely. I'm not quite sure why you all insist of bitching about an arrangement that is obviously working out well for the involved parties. Also, I think the not fucking co-workers things is a little outdated considering there are few other places nowadays to meet people in person.

Jesus, please delete #1 and give the trolls an enforced day off.

I think it's time to start looking for companionship somewhere besides this married women. And yes, be honest in a dating profile. Adult children living with their parents is at an all time high, so I'm sure there are many women in your situation. Find a way to be upfront about your situation, but be careful not to be too self pitying. A little self deprecating humor goes a long way. Save info about your wife for when you're actually on a date. It seems tacky to put something so personal in an online profile. Think of a sentence or two that sum up what happened, then transition to a new topic, and make it clear the subject is closed until you get to know the person better. That will help keep your dates from being an awkward pity party.

Don't let this married women distract you from finding someone you can actually be happy with in the long term. Good luck, and I hope things turn around for you in 2012!

I don't think you have to be sheltered to not want drug dealers hanging out on your neighborhood corners. And I don't think it's prissy to want a work/school environment where people refrain from being blatantly high and/or drunk. Don't get me wrong, there's a time and a place for everything. However, the perma-stoners have to realize that some of us actually try and get things done with our day, and would like a respectful, peaceful atmosphere to work in while we do it.

Don't get me wrong, all young people sometimes put their foot in their mouth, but the stories of blatant sexism/racism/general disrespect for humans coming out of Harvard and Yale really take the cake. I can't believe the rest of us have to see our well meaning colleges rank below these douche-bag behemoths.

P.S. Paul, you seem pretty OK.

Paul, I completely agree with your assessment. For some reason, many men feel really confident telling you that you HAVE to see this movie or listen to this band. It's been a characteristic of my dating life since high school. And god, did I have to put up with some crappy bands and movies in high school as a result!

That doesn't mean women don't have strong opinions about movies and bands, but sometimes I think we're less confident that men will like what we like (because what we like always gets perceived as 'too girly').

Oh Jesus Christ, just shut up about your parenting hang-ups already. I'm sorry reproduction has been such a bummer for you, but believe it or not, most of us actually have the ability to love our families fairly effortlessly.
