The anti-gay marriage crowd is putting up the same thinking and arguments that the anti-mixed race marriage crowd used to put up: you know, think of the children and Because Teh Bible. And once again, when you apply critical thinking all arguments against melt away. It is quite satisfying to see these conservatives "come out of the closet" to confirm what the rest of their fellow rational thinking citizens already know: gay marriage is as much of a civil right as marriage between races.

Ok, I am confused. Has, at any time, Michele Malkin contributed anything useful to our culture? Or has she spent her time as an adult screeching, in print, the most vacuous of screeds, all fulminating at "Liberals"?

And, @20: Wow. I didnt think it possible, but your blog is even more boring than your pathetic attempts at trolling on these boards.

@12: Where were you, standing up to the "tyrannical government" when they stripped away rights via the Patriot Act, used the NSA to illegally spy on us, and now claim that anyone deemed a terrorist can be arrested and held without detention? Or is it just that, again, you only care about your precious 2nd amendment rights, all other rights be dammed? And I would love to see ya'll stand up, with your few guns, against the armed might of a so-called tyrannical government. Your delusion would be laughable if it weren't so pathetic.

Saw the movie yesterday and I can agree with David's assesment: Its a perfectly good, if not great, thriller and has some very surprising plot twists. Its actually a fairly complicated story and its a credit to Soderbergh that he is capable of keeping the complexity in the story, not dumbing it down the way too many Hollywood movies do, and keeps it all moving along in a timely manner. Definitely worth a viewing.

4 episodes in and I am lovin it. Its incredibly delicious in its complete head-first dive into the cynicism pool, barely coming up for air to breathe any morality into it. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are spot-on perfect as the ultimate power-hungry couple. Every time he talks into the camera I get the shivers of delight.

@sgt doom: You are about half right. Yes, the reasons the Filipinos were slaughtered in the aftermath of the Spanish-American War have all to do with Empire. In that you are absolutely correct. However the question that Diamond asks and then answers in "Guns, Germs and Steel" is how is it that Europeans were able to come up with the technologies that enabled them to build up and expand their Empires, that allowed colonization to happen. That's the part you are missing. You should read the book.

Yo Riz (World's Best DJ), at my last wedding the first song played was "Book of Love" by the Mag Fields. Too bad we divorced 5 years later. I still love that song.

Zoos depress the livin hell outta me. I hate seeing animals in cages, even the outdoor cages, with the exception of the vast habitat type "animal parks". However, I am totally in favor of zoos other major missions: species preservation and education. I like the idea of zoos, I just cant go to them.

As much as I love watching basketball, and I do love it, it pisses me off to no end that our gain will be Sacramento's loss. The fans down there will be in the same boat we were when the Sonics left. Goddamn the NBA.
