The same thing happened to Tom Cruise and Steve Kanumba in the past two years. I bet there's a hellacious party somewhere.

I don't think, Dominic, that you really mean to encourage heaping that much violence on anyone.

Terrific group. Anyone still standing-up for someone to go to jail for the unprovoked murder of John Williams deserves all the support they can get. The fact that SPD cold-bloodedly pepper-sprays marchers and bystanders also without provocation, and regularly uses racist language within camera range, WILL become unacceptable to the good people of Seattle and WILL result in the reform of the department and of the city towards its less-fortunate citizens.

I guess when you reported (repeated) earlier that

"'I watched the stuff thrown into sanitation trucks and just crushed,' Lopi LaRoe, a 47-year-old Brooklyn artist, told a reporter."

that was just hearsay after all. And probably didn't deserve the hyperbolic, simplistic, Enquirer-grade lede paragraph claiming "the NYPD trashed well over 5,000 books."

It'd be great it Seattle had an alternative paper consistently written by and for grownups. Damn, I may need to take A. Birch Steen's spleen seriously.

Jesus, Seattle. What a bunch of loser cops you have working for you. Shoot somebody dead without provocation and get fired... once that's acceptable, everything else they do is a footnote.

This beautiful town has a lot of wonderful, progressive people in it. Why does it tolerate snarling dog cops?

@#15 Who's paying you to propagandize here? Hmmm?

Dear Eli, Maybe you should spend more time thinking about what's going on and what's at stake before you try to write about it.
Oct 20, 2011 tunanator commented on Herman Cain, Choicer.
Herman Cain is a clear demonstration of far down in the barrel the Right has to scrape to come up with someone who'll mouth their ignorant hatred while keeping a -pardon the expression -straight face.

People who bother to go after people like Herman Cain actually help Herman Cain. Responding to every ignorant thing those people say encourages the ignorant to keep mouthing off. Notice an upsurge in ignorance in the media the past few years?

Do us a favor. Don't do what the cynical, wholly-pwned mainstream press does. Let Herman shriek in the obscurity he deserves. No one is taking him seriously except the five percent he appeals to.
Oct 20, 2011 tunanator commented on What's in a Lede?.
Right on! How many cops does it take to police a peaceful protest?? Not harass, police! That's right: enough to stand and watch and make sure nobody damages anything or starts a fight. The rest can stay home!

So you're absolutely right, the Times wording is chosen to try to manipulate public perception - a tactic that MAY HAVE WORKED 80 YEARS AGO but Americans ARE WISE TO THAT SHIT now.

All over. The Mayor was convinced to have a change of heart by the owner of the park. http://pastebin.com/GkXrYNwr
