Worn Out.
I'd love to see a follow-up on the person behind the
gyro ladies. Since they aren't as ubiquitous here in Seattle as they are elsewhere, though, I won't hold my breath.

The Superhero Battle.
@4 - Not exactly. DC first trademarked the word, and claim they invented it (at least in the context of comics/dudes in tights). They moved to the shared arrangement when Marvel stopped doing comics about pirates and started doing things like Spidey.
What I don't understand is that DC understood that it benefit them to let Marvel to use the term "superhero," in a rising-tide-lifts-all-ships sort of way. So why not, at this point, let everybody use it? This action just makes Marvel and DC look like the bullies they should be working hard not to be. Bleargh.

Worn Out.
Duuuuuude. I stopped wearing button-down shirts ages ago because I hate the ones cut for ladies and mens/boys shirts don't accommodate the twins. Imma have to check this out.

The Slog Netflix Streaming Club: I Think We're Alone Now.
It's notable that in the commentary tracks Kelly admits that she lied about being intersex, and was born male. I guess she thought it would be more sympathetic to be intersex, not trans? I have no idea.
Also, Rich Juzwiak at Fourfour wrote a couple of
great pieces about this movie, they're worth your eyeballs and time.

A Very important Lesson in Reading Etiquette.
@10: I think s/he is more concerned with the store running out of books on the day of the reading, not that they wouldn't have them in stock to begin with. I can see that happening, if a reading is more popular than the store anticipated. It seems like a valid concern. But, as the others have said, just buy something else if you want to BYO to the reading.

What Do You Think of the Thor: The Dark World Trailer?.
I thought the first Thor movie was charming and cute, and better than it needed to be. I liked what they did with the characters in the Avengers. I will probably see this, and as a result, like @1 I won't watch the trailer. Once I've decided I want to see something, I cease paying attention to coverage of it in the media. I like to go into these things pretty much a blank slate. Even mediocre movies benefit from unspoiled viewing.

Teen Scientist Says Fruit Flies Prefer Organic.
@18 - If you think the world deserves better-designed research (by children, no less!), then show me what you've done. I want to see your publications. I want to know how you do your research.I want to visit your lab. If you've ever actually designed and executed an experiment as perfect as you demand from this child, please do share. I'd love to know how you've mastered the scientific method.
