What Do Readers Really Want from Their Newspapers?.
A list of top read stories is likely to over represent single stories about one-time events. These are events that are big enough to cause large amount of interest but only a single article or maybe two. Stories that produce a large number of stories, like an election, everybody is going to be read some stories, but everyone is not going to the same stories. Sampling error.

Responsible Gun Owner: Twenty Dead Children a "Drop In the Ocean".
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the Stranger, but nobody should be reading it for unbiased, reasoned debate on the issues of the day. That said, I do not disagree much with the conclusions expressed here about Morgan's ability to reason, to argue effectively or his ability to examine his biases as the are expressed in his many premises. But frankly I could say the same thing about 90 percent of the commenters here as well. This is a long shot, but could any of you point me to where a rational discussion of the subject might be found?

The Uses of Pit Bulls.
All teachers should be allowed to bring pit bulls to school. Not only will they protect the children from attack but they will control drug use as well.

The Backstory on Guns in America.
@2 while it is true that 'guns don't kill people' in the literal sense, it is also true that the easy access to guns, their efficiency for their designed purpose (killing) and the culture that glorifies their use and promotes revenge fantasies all contribute to these events. And contrary to popular belief, people are no more or less irresponsible in raising their children then they ever were. Comparing the raising of children to gun ownership is the height of absurdity.

Elephant Lovers Protest the Woodland Park Zoo.
Sounds like a lose-lose-win. WPZ will lose any income from the elephants and be left with a large, empty space they will need millions to develop into something else. Children will wonder where the elephants went and why they can't see them and the adults will, if honest, have to try to explain why the elephants were abused for decades for other children's amusement. And MAYBE the elephants will be better off.
