Meh. I'm not even sure that this is the worst song that they have ever recorded together.

I don't want to defend Time exactly, and there are some pretty egregious mistakes in a five sentence paragraph, but fairness where it is due. This is extremely complicated material to non-scientists and very easy to screw up. I just watched theoretical physicist Sean Carroll on the Colbert Report and could not figure out why his description of the HIggs boson was correct but Time's was wrong. Much of it sounded exactly the same. This is also the same explanation that I have heard on many science programs and podcasts including Science Friday, Nature, NPR's Higgs boson reporting, and even Scientific American.

Reading Maggie Gallagher's thoughts on last night's marriage votes made me joyfully happy.
Nov 5, 2012 SolM commented on Which Style of Gay Marriage Ad Is More Effective?.
What exactly would a fear-mongering Approve R-74 look like?

1. Approve R-74 or God will strike you down?
2. Approve R-74 because our opposition is full of fear-mongering tax cheats who try their best to get around the law?
3. Approve R-74 because Maggie Gallagher is a horrible, horrible person?
4. Approve R-74 because if you don't bad things will happen to gay people?
5. Approve R-74 because if you don't, you're an evil bigot?

I'm all for whatever works, but in an issue like R-74, I am just not sure what kind of negative ad would be effective?

I liked it a lot. All in all, I was very pleased with this year's convention.

And thus after heroically saving the day yet again, Gay Green Lantern enjoys a well-deserved rest at Fire Island--nevertheless maintaining a vigilant eye for the time when evil may arise again. Tune in next week when One Million Mom discovers Twitter.

VABG, you are wonderful. You have a beautiful soul. Your nephew is very lucky that you are in his life. We should all be so lucky as to have as caring and as wonderful a relative as he has in Aunt VABC.

But make sure you get a lawyer. For your protection and for your nephew's. Your sister may have thrown him out, but unless there is some legal process to protect you and him, they can make your lives miserable. Neither of you deserve that.

The Bluths are definitely Republicans except for maybe Maebe, who as a member of the Hollywood elite probably throws fundraisers for Democratic nominees.

Dominic, what exactly was your point in sending people over here? You basically asked people to weigh in, they weighed in, and now you don't like the way they weighed in. I'm not sure I understand.

For the record, I agree that you don't have to be an opera scholar to write a review of an opera so long as you can appreciate the form. And yes, you gave a very nice review. But you do have to admit that believability of the acting in opera is definitely secondary to the singing by necessity. How else can you watch a soprano singing full throat as Violetta while she is supposedly wasting away from consumption?
