The doubled images from nature&#8212;trees, flowers, moss-covered stones&#8212;harmonize nicely with Greene's chime, harp, and birdsong-bedecked melody. Agreeing to a three-way&#8212;so long as you're baked&#8212;doesn't count. A three-way involving a woman; her reluctant, resentful, self-medicating girlfriend; and an innocent bystander is unlikely to (1) be much fun for anyone involved (particularly your unlucky third) or (2) put an end to your girlfriend's desire for share time.</p> <p>Your girlfriend is seeking to fold her desire to sleep with other women into the structure of your relationship: three-ways now, perhaps some degree of openness later. Shelton keeps the scope small, as a masseuse (DeWitt) develops an <b>aversion to skin</b> at the same time that her straitlaced dentist brother (Josh Pais) becomes a faith healer to the new-agey crowd. The performances are all strong, but ultimately <b>Pais steals the show</b> with some electrifying, tightly wound physical comedy that makes a minimalist character sketch feel like a bravura performance. But altogether, my feelings for Davis's style, mode, and thinking are some of the deepest feelings I have. Consequently, I can't help feeling strongly about the different stages of Davis's career. If you feel mildly about Miles, then you've never really heard his music. As he approached the group in his patrol car, he noted that two men "immediately part[ed] ways," and headed from the scene in opposite directions, according to a police report.</p> <p>The diligent Officer Shepherd got out to speak with the remaining men, one of whom "claimed that he was shaving the tip off of his cigarette with his small pocket knife" when "without warning or provocation of any sort, one of the two suspects that I saw walk off pulled a knife and placed it against [the victim's] neck <strong>as if he was going to cut his throat</strong>."</p> <p>"[The victim] feared for his safety and did not react," the police report adds.</p> <p>Just as suddenly, the alleged knife-wielder released his supposed victim "without inflicting any bodily injury." Although the victim was "noticeably upset," he did not identify which of the two men had threatened him and told Officer Shepherd that he didn't want the police involved. The victim mentioned he planned to spend the night at his girlfriend's place, but would first stop to buy cigarettes at the gas station on Pike and Broadway.</p> <p>Officer Shepherd could've resumed his patrol at that point. But <strong>like a modern-day McNulty</strong>, he knew better, and suspected that whoever threatened the victim "was most likely in the same vicinity where the victim was heading to buy cigarettes," according to his police report. </p> <p>Sure enough, at the gas station he spotted the two suspects and ordered them to stop. Shepherd frisked both and found a "red colored Husky box cutter knife" in the second suspect's pocket, "just as he started reaching for it," he says in the report. As the victim arrived at the gas station, backup officers arrived. They identified outstanding warrants and thefts tied to one of the suspects, the report states (the other suspect was released). The victim identified the suspect as having threatened him, but reiterated that <strong>he didn't want to press charges</strong>, Shepherd notes. </p> <p>Nevertheless, the suspect was transported to the King County Jail where, during intake, another officer recovered "a small baggie <strong>concealed between his butt cheeks</strong>." </p> <p>The baggie contained a white powder, according to the report. Shepherd retrieved the 1.4-ounce baggie. The substance field-tested positive for cocaine, and the officer duly deposited the knife and cocaine baggie into the SPD Evidence Unit drop-box, the report concludes.</p> <p>That's one less <strong>knife-wielding cocaine-in-the-butt smuggler</strong> on the streets of Capitol Hill, according to police. And yet, Officer Shepherd's report is written in clear, dry, matter-of-fact prose. But like a lot of spouses, male and female, your wife seems to believe that marriage obligates you to round your libido down to match hers. My home baking setup is nothing special: I've got fire bricks on the bottom rack of my bottom oven, where I tend to do most of my bread baking.</p> <p>The bricks work fine, but they're unwieldy, and they're too thick to use in my smaller top oven, which heats up <em>soooo</em> much faster. So I was toying with getting myself a more versatile (if somewhat less massive) pizza stone. And then I started reading rave reviews from home pizza makers about <a href="http://bakingsteel.com">Baking Steel</a>, a 16 by 14 by 1/4 inch thick slab of steel.</p> <p>The idea is that because it is more conductive than stone, a thick slab of steel will bake more evenly and at lower temperatures than stone. And faster. A faster baking time gives more "spring" to the crust&#8212;those larger bubbles that you find in the best pizzas.</p> <p>Sounds great, but I don't want to spend $79 on something that works no better than what I already have. So... have any of you out in Slogland tried the Baking Steel? Which makes the contrast all the better when these delightful pop songs are filtered and presented in the lo-fi/K Records aesthetic while still simultaneously lending themselves to a larger sound. The <strong>upbeat, queercore</strong>, guitar/drum duo gave an impressive show to a lot of first-time listeners during their slot at this year's 'Mo-Wave festival and gained a bunch of new fans. Be ready to point it out when others are mistaken but don't make a nuisance of yourself.</strong>." And: "Change the subject when people talk about mermaids. <strong>A true mermaid</strong> would not be likely to enjoy having the secrets of her people discussed in public." I especially like "Part Five: Keep It in Perspective," which advises the reader, "Don't go overboard.
