s, I am 75 years old - I wrote the postcard! Thanks for printing both sides!!!

For several years now, I have done my "activism" bit by determining to write a postcard a day, yes, one each and every day, to legislators, publications, CEOs, whatever! Postcards are a LOT cheaper than letters! and unlike e-mails or telephone calls {which I sometimes do also}, they are "things" that are tangible and can be passed around, not just float off forgotten into space afterwards. I am not under the apprehension that President Obama, etc., actually gets to read {most of} them; I aim the postcards at the slavey in the office who has to open the mail! SOMEbody has to read them! Secretary or intern or whatever. They are important people too!

I am aware of websites such as "Voice of the Faithful", of Catholics who want to reform the Church. For many reasons, there are some people to whom Catholic traditional imagery, stories, art, music, ritual, etc., hold great appeal. They are not for a "stripped-down" Protestant kind of Church, such as the ones produced by the 16th-century Reformation. They still want to be "Catholics"..... but, it is true that the VAST Majority of Catholics simply IGNORE the Church Hierarchy's strictures on, for example, Birth Control..... and, there are Catholic groups such as Dignity, and others, for Catholic Gays......
What I don't get, and need to be enlightened on here, is, Why the F... do all these people, or some of them at least, still GIVE THEIR MONEY TO THE VATICAN.... which uses it for shady business transactions, to defend Pedophiles, to consistently spread lies about its history {including WWII and the Holocaust}, to campaign against LGBT Equal Rights..... NOT giving it to "Catholic Charity", unless it is to take over, bully and threaten withdrawal of funding from those "Charities" that REALLY want to help women, children, and anyone who doesn't happen to agree with their dogmas.....

A FINAL SPLIT with the Church, would be, for the dissidents to NOT FORK OVER THEIR MONEY...... and use it to support their own buildings, services, art, music, ritual, etc...... That is the only thing that makes any sense at all to me!!! Such a Split has GOT TO happen, I think, soon!

Ah the Episcopalians. I was baptized in my grandparents Episcopalian church. And I was sent to sunday service/school when I was little. I loved to play but as soon as I was put in the school part where they told us bible stories and other things I day dreamed about playing outside and in the toy room.

I guess I'll have to look up Ms. Tomlinson's address and let her know of the local churches, some with "catholic" but not "roman" in their name, that already exist because of differences with the outdated, not-at-all-acting-in-love Vatican, including but not limited to philosophies of same-sex marriage. I doubt very much The Stranger is going to let her know where those churches are. She will probably be happy to know they exist.
