However, I chose to address the two points that I believe made your editorial less credible: That there's some sort of conspiracy to malign all the people arrested, which I don't think you've proven, and that the "black bloc" is now the victim of a media campaign when common sense suggests that their actions were timed to get the most media attention possible.

Because as you know yourself, there's no "group" there. You imply that the linked writer is somehow justifying those who committed violence, when the opposite is true. The writer is objecting to police using the violence of the "black bloc" (ie undercover cop FBI-led goon squads) as a justification for mistreatment of the genuine peaceful protesters.

This is a low point for the Stranger, right up there with Dan Savage supporting the Iraq war, except here it is involving multiple reporters. Sheesh, is even one of you going to ask why there has never been a large scale conspiracy to commit terrorism bust and trial for a "black bloc" type group? You snear at silly protestors saying silly things but then you say the opposite and support the idea that the organizing people in these "black bloc" groups are intelligent beyond all measure, impervious to infiltration or investigation.

Why don't you go find someone who was around in the 60s and early 70s and participated in any left or civil rights political activism, or at least open up Wikipedia and read the about COINTELPRO. Gosh.

I couldn't hear anything the woman said to encourage such a response from the officer and the guy holding the camera is standing right behind/next to her (the woman arrested looks about 5' tall). You can see that nothing is in her hands but her handbag when she's dragged over the police bike line. It's a good shot of what happened until she's yanked over the bikes by her hair. This is when SPD does what it does best and forces the camera man beyond the line of sight, protecting it's own violent and illegal acts.

Even if she said "fuck off, we're moving" (again I didn't hear it), this woman was past the police officer when the officer decided go ape shit and grab the back of her hair.

That female police officer should be fired, immediately. The SPD is the worst police department in any major (or minor) city I've ever lived. It's fucking deplorable.
