It is a meditation on existence itself. It shows that the human drama is but the surface sheen of the infinite churning everything.

Right up until that final scene in the surf. That did not belong at all. I'd like to believe that the producers forced that scene on Malick and that we will eventually see a director's cut of the film without that scene. Or I could just turn the movie off before the end next time I watch it.
