Something seems to be up worldwide (except, oddly enough, in France where they boil fatted liver in butter and serve it in a cream sauce). Yeah, it could be about Burger King. It could that food scientists and engineers have developed flavors that are so delicious and enticing but never satisfying. It could be that no one goes out to play anymore.

Me? All I know is that I don't do fast food because it all tastes the same (and it is very high in calories). Whatever happened to that great little burger stand? Give me Fatburger or Tommy's in 1978. I don't eat all the time. I don't do snacks hardly ever. I don't even usually eat three meals a day. It's hard for me to burn the calories I once did because I'm getting old and slowing down, My knees and my back are almost always shouting at me. But I try to at least get out and walk every day. Even with all that, it is such a struggle not to gain weight. I have a model friend who is also middle-aged (but is still pretty enough to work) who tells me that now he has to eat half as much and work twice as hard to keep looking the same. Great. I haven't quite resigned myself to eating nothing but diet lime jello and green beans - although that is certainly an answer.

Young people who can eat anything you want and all of you who have fabulous metabolisms: fall to your knees and thank the heavens that you aren't cursed like the rest of us.
