You can't discriminate against people because of religious beliefs [that would be like saying it's totally cool for Christians not to hire gay people or women, because the Bible says so], unless of course you are a religious institution. Then you can discriminate til your heart's content. Perhaps if the inn owners knew the law, they could have avoided the lawsuit. IT's their own stupidity and bigotry that cost them $30,000.

The other guy should have know that unless you work for Fox News, public bigotry can get you fired. Dumb ass.

@dom (you gained a friend btw, *ping*) the tactic is the same as the racists do here. They don't HAVE to speak the truth. We can debunk them a million times and keep doing it. They will just repeat it the next day, perhaps with an added "oh its just the liberal media bias making lies again".

I think the best tactic is to push back. If they don't want to argue, lets just shame them, tell them what we think and why we won't show up at their businesses, or weddings, or family functions. Because they are bigots. What other damn word is there?

But the "state will force you to serve people you don't like and will ruin your business if you don't" will resonate. And the "substitute black for gay" argument isn't going to make much headway with these folks, many of whom aren't a fan of anti-discrimination laws in general.

More important, though, is that the Seattle Times reported a few months ago that these claims that the marriage law did XYZ were false and that the challenges were from laws totally unrelated to the marriage law. Even better, though is the Times' editorial today that basically calls out NOM and PMW for lying.
