      <![CDATA[@ 5/6, I remember The Stranger endorsing Republican Sam Reed for Sec'y of State last time I could vote for that race. He proved to be on the side of the law when he denied Rossi's challenges to the recount in 2004. I was worried he'd end the recount before it was done, a la Florida 2000, but he seemed to understand that his duty was to Washington, not the Washington GOP.

If you did things in off years like most states, and Locke had begun in 98 and retired in 06, Gregoire likely would have won without the need for a recount. That was the first big blue election nationally, after all. (If it had happened in 02, well, who can say then?)

"My platform and our candidates suck so bad we've lost every election for two decades" is nothing to brag about. Or wallow in. Its time to re-examine your platform and your slate, and ask yourself why people avoid you at the ballot box.
