b) no matter how much one group of people suffered, it doesn't give them the right to oppress another group of people. I'll never understand what gave the British any right to mandate a state to house outsiders (i.e. other than the original Jewish population) in the middle of a region where no one wanted it in the first place - say, how would you feel if similar thing happened in the middle of North America? - But that was a crazy world back then when imperialism didn't seem as crazy as it did now. So, that being aside, as much as I empathise with the plight of the Jewish people, Palestinian plight is no less deserving of sympathy and outrage.

What would France do if a Spanish rocket fell into France ? France would send its best investigators, civilians and military, to help Spanish forces discover which nutjob did it, how, with whose help ; and all those pretty people would end up being judged, and condemned to life in jail, in Spain. None of them would be killed, nor their families hunted. There would be a round of politicians from both countries demonstrating Franco-Spanish unshatterable friendship. There would be programs in schools in both countries on how France and Spain are friends forever.

Now, answer my question, Sarah70 : what would Haifa do if a Tel-Aviv inhabitant bombed it ? Would Haifa plane-bomb Tel-Aviv, to destroy Tel-Aviv infrastructure, bridges, whatever, in order to prevent all Tel-Avivis to ever bomb Haifa again ? At the risk of killing Tel-Aviv inhabitants and children ? How would Tel-Aviv react then, if Haifa had retaliated with force, because a criminal nutjob from Tel-Aviv had sent a bomb into Haifa ?

That's what Israeli conservatives what to prevent from happening. Oppress your neighbour ; your neighbour will bomb you. And your population will vote conservative. Extremists, like Israeli conservatives, Hamas, Bush, Al-Qaeda are always interested in having whatever differences escalate into a war. People living in peace shy away from extremists. People in wars or in dire poverty run to join them.

The biggest antisemitic meme was "Jewish bankers," until right-wingers started in on media and Hollywood. The fact is, this is plain old antisemitism. "Jewish bankers" as the blame for the world's economic problems is still a current cry, but it's total bullshit. Chase? Citi? Bank of America? Wells Fargo? American Express? The largest banks in America, if not the world? Nope. They won't even hire Jewish executives. There's a glass ceiling for Jews employed at mainline and major investment banks.

Yes of course Israel is not 100% faultless in everything that has happened but there is an overall dramatic anti-semitic skew in media reporting that disgusts me

- UK Guardian report that presents some of the things that have befallen innocent Gaza civilians who have been injured/killed in this (and earlier conflicts) as intentionally-designed civilian killings -- that Israel should/does have the power to guide every single bullet/bomb and if any civilian is hit, it is by design. Please tell me of any war/conflict that the US (or any country) in history was involved in, where there was not some collateral damage / friendly fire / civilians killed. No country has that power, certainly not Israel. But whereas 100% of the Hamas/Palestinian military actions are targeted at, and only at civilians, Israel's are targeted at military targets, with collateral damage (yes, including civilians) along the way. The fact that Hamas intentionally places rocket launching pads, military targets, embedded within civilian areas directly drives this as well

- Today in NYC there are anti, and pro-Israel demonstrations happening in Times Square. http://www.amny.com/urbanite-1.812039/pr… Note the article citing an "orthodox" rabbi from a sect called Neturei Karta who cries with the Palestinians. They fail to report that this Neturei Karta is a fringe sect that doesn’t believe the state of Israel should exist (see their home page or Wikipedia). Both Hamas and this sect wish to push all Israelis into exile (for different reasons) so they are perfectly aligned.

- Everyone who loves to compare this to South Africa/Apartheid- that might be fair IF the South African blacks routinely blew themselves up in civilian areas, threw missiles into primarily white south africans areas, denounced the existence of any form of a white south africa, and had tried invading it multiple times from other countries.

Bottom line - you are correct that Israel is not blameless but many of these commenters are clueless bleeding heart liberals who desperately need to do more homework before running off to support a cause of which your comments show you to be woefully ignorant. Do your homework, or STFU.
